Summary: In chronic non-contained bone defects treated with GBR, TiO2 blocks demonstrated the largest lateral volume augmentation but less new bone formation, while DBBM particles showed more mineralized bone in the grafted area but in smaller amounts. Empty controls had the most new lateral bone formation outward from the defect margins.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the progression of experimental peri-implantitis between implants placed in pristine bone and guided bone regeneration (GBR) sites. The results showed no significant differences in marginal bone loss between the two groups during the progression of peri-implantitis. Histological, immunohistochemical, and polarized light microscopic analysis also revealed no significant differences between pristine bone and GBR sites. Therefore, previous hard tissue grafting at the implant sites does not affect the development of experimental peri-implantitis.

Summary: Treatment of cortical bone defects is a clinical challenge. In this study, a new type I collagen membrane for guided bone regeneration (GBR) has been clinically translated. The collagen membrane acts in an osteoconductive manner to facilitate cortical bone regeneration and improve cortical bone repair significantly, both in preclinical animal study and clinical trial. CelGro collagen membrane shows promise for GBR in both dental and orthopedic applications.

Summary: Ultrasound is the first-line imaging technique, but may not fully assess the extent of vascular anomalies in some cases. Magnetic resonance imaging with DCE-MRI allows accurate evaluation of the extent and anatomical relationship of vascular anomalies, as well as providing hemodynamic characterization, aiding in therapy selection and prognosis assessment.

Summary: The mechanical properties of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and graphene-based PMMA with Zn and Ag were compared in this study. Scanning electron microscopy was used to analyze the samples before and after the mechanical test. The compression behavior, flexural properties, tensile strength, and shape of the PMMA variants were investigated and compared. The results showed no statistical difference in the mechanical properties of the samples, but the graphene-based PMMA displayed similar performance to commercially available PMMA and showed potential for future clinical use.

Summary: In this work, improved versions of the Ky-Fan inequality for functions on time scales are presented, with the use of weights that can simultaneously take negative and positive values. It also explores the potential applications of these models in the economic context, as Economics offers numerous opportunities for time scales applications. Time scales not only unify discrete and continuous mathematics, but also provide a unified approach to discrete and continuous methods in economic studies.
