Summary: Sulfated galactans (SG) isolated from G. fisheri, particularly SG-1, with an estimated molecular mass of 100 kDa, activate murine macrophages via the dectin-1 signaling pathway, enhancing nitric oxide secretion and mRNA levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Treatment with G. fisheri SG-1 displays immune-stimulatory activities comparable to or surpassing lipopolysaccharide treatment.

Summary: In this study, a novel acidic polysaccharide (HTP-1) was extracted from mature Hawk tea leaves. HTP-1 showed significant immunoregulatory activities by alleviating jejunum injury and improving immune organ indexes, cytokines, and immunoglobulins in immunosuppressed mice. Furthermore, HTP-1 supplementation altered the intestinal microbiota composition and increased the abundances of beneficial bacteria, indicating a regulatory role on gut microbiota and potential as functional foods.
