Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic is causing major disruptions in everyday life, especially in nuclear medicine facilities where urgent adaptations are needed. Preventive measures are crucial due to the lack of vaccine and specific antiviral therapy. Shortages of personal protective equipment and testing also pose challenges to healthcare workers in direct contact with patients.

Summary: In the United States, there is evidence of anti-Asian sentiment during the COVID-19 pandemic, as people's fear of contracting the virus is related to prejudice against Asian individuals. This study found that perceived threat of COVID-19 infection is associated with less warmth toward individuals from China, and this effect is moderated by trait-level prejudice. The results suggest that the perceived threat of COVID-19 infection may lead to prejudice against the national outgroup associated with the disease's origin (i.e., China).

Summary: The objective of this study was to quantify vehicle control as a metric of automobile driving performance in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The results showed that RA patients demonstrated differences in vehicle control compared to controls, with significant statistical interaction between disease status and road type. These findings support the need for further research to link patterns of vehicle control to driver risk and disease activity.

Summary: This study compared the mortality risk between gout patients and non-gout patients in the Veteran's Health Administration. The results showed that gout patients had a higher risk of death, which could be attributed to comorbidities. Gout patients had a lower risk of death related to neurologic and mental health conditions, but genitourinary conditions were the most overrepresented causes of death.

Summary: Quality improvement is a new field that aims to improve patient care by applying improvement science principles and measurement methods. Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a systemic autoimmune rheumatic disease, which has a significant impact on healthcare burden and mortality. This article introduces the discipline of quality improvement and discusses the use of quality measures in evaluating care for SSc patients. Three sets of quality measures are summarized and compared, and areas for future improvement and measurement in SSc are highlighted.
