Summary: We propose a novel and effective photocatalytic method for the methylation of & beta;-diketones with controllable degrees of deuterium incorporation by developing new methyl sources. By utilizing a methylamine-water system and a cascade assembly strategy, we synthesized methylated compounds with varying degrees of deuterium incorporation. This work demonstrates the utility of readily available reagents, methylamines and water, as a new methyl source, and provides a simple and efficient strategy for the synthesis of degree-controllable deuterium-labelled compounds.

Summary: Deuteration as a means of altering caffeine's effects and duration of activity is unexplored. d9-Caffeine, a deuterated isotopologue of caffeine, may offer an alternative with less frequent consumption, lower doses, and reduced exposure to caffeine metabolites. Characterization of d9-caffeine's genotoxic potential and pharmacokinetic behavior is critical in understanding its differences from caffeine.

Summary: This study presents a highly efficient and easily manipulated palladium-catalyzed H/D exchange protocol for the synthesis of beta-deuterated N-protected amino amides, which can be converted to beta-deuterated amino acids by removing protecting groups. The use of pivalic acid as an additive also promoted the successful deuterium labeling of phenylalanine derivatives.

Summary: By introducing the isotope effect, the luminescence performance of COFs has been significantly improved. The deuterated COF achieved an impressive 19-fold enhancement in quantum yield compared to the non-deuterated counterpart. This strategy is proven to be applicable to many other types of emissive COFs.

Summary: Herein, we propose an electrocatalytic deuteration strategy for continuous production of deuterated ethylene from acetylene under ambient conditions, utilizing D2O as the D source. Ag nanoparticles exhibit a high deuterated ethylene Faradic efficiency of 99.3% at -0.6 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode. Additionally, Ag nanoparticles achieve a deuterated ethylene production rate of 3.72 x 10 3 mmol h-1 gcat-1 and show excellent long-term stability.

Summary: This study describes six new eight-coordinate samarium complexes, consisting of a coumarin derived chelating ligand with or without a diimine auxiliary ligand (1,10-phenanthroline or 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline). The crystal structure and luminescent properties of two complexes are presented. It was found that partial deuteration of the coumarin ligand had a significant effect on the solid state QY values.
