A novel decentralised pump-controlled hydraulic scheme is proposed to reduce the power consumed by a dual clutch transmission hydraulic actuator. Qualitative analysis proves that decomposing the traditional centralised valve-controlled hydraulic system (CVHS) into clutch control subsystem, clutch cooling subsystem, and transmission lubrication subsystem can effectively decrease energy loss. A forward design method is developed for this novel hydraulic system. In this study, the efficiency models of the CVHS and the decentralised pump-controlled hydraulic system (DPHS) are established. The simulation results demonstrate that the average energy efficiency of DPHS is 19.97% higher than that of CVHS under the dynamic shift strategy, and the average energy efficiency of DPHS is 20.49% higher than that of CVHS under the economic shift strategy.
