Open innovation (OI) has received considerable attention since its introduction and has positive and negative characteristics. To offer an overview for future research, this article produces a comprehensive review by combining bibliometric analysis and content analysis. A total of 4463 journal articles and 3061 conference papers on OI were extracted from Web of Science (WOS). The synthesized networks were constructed and visualized through CiteSpace software to aid analytical studies. After the descriptive bibliometric analysis of all publications, a content analysis of 213 articles was carried out to develop the conceptual framework of OI. The results reveal that OI still confined itself to limited disciplines and innovation-centric journals but is beginning to put more effort into becoming a more open ecosystem by influencing other disciplines. We also find some gaps in the extant research and provide some research directions in the OI field: empirical studies in various contexts could enrich the external validity of OI, other theoretical perspectives could provide novel views, and OI is on its way to becoming mature but has a long way to go. Ruihong Liu, Yuanqiong He, Xiu-Hao Ding, Jianhong Li

Summary: Based on media choice theories and real option theory, this study explores the role of communication media portfolio in achieving collaborative innovation with suppliers. The findings suggest that media multiplicity increases the probability of collaborative innovation, and distance from suppliers and relationship formality further enhance the importance of media multiplicity.

Impact of knowledge search on product and process innovation: mediating role of absorptive capacity and moderating role of IT capability

Hui Gao, Xiu-Hao Ding, Suming Wu

Summary: This study examines the role of knowledge search in open innovation and explores the mediating effect of absorptive capacity and the moderating effect of IT capability. Findings show that both local and boundary-spanning search strategies positively influence innovation, and absorptive capacity plays a mediating role. IT capability has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between local search and innovation performance, but weakens the relationship between boundary-spanning search and product innovation.

How does IT capability affect open innovation performance? The mediating effect of absorptive capacity

Suming Wu, Xiuhao Ding, Ruihong Liu, Hui Gao

Summary: The study revealed that both internal and external information technology (IT) capabilities have a positive impact on open innovation performance, with absorptive capacity playing a mediating role between them. This research provides a new perspective on the inner mechanisms of how IT capability influences open innovation performance.

Relative evaluation of probabilistic methods for spatio-temporal wind forecasting

Lars odegaard Bentsen, Narada Dilp Warakagoda, Roy Stenbro, Paal Engelstad

Summary: This study investigates uncertainty modeling in wind power forecasting using different parametric and non-parametric methods. Johnson's SU distribution is found to outperform Gaussian distributions in predicting wind power. This research contributes to the literature by introducing Johnson's SU distribution as a candidate for probabilistic wind forecasting.

Comparison of ethane recovery processes for lean gas based on a coupled model

Xing Liu, Qiuchen Wang, Yunhao Wen, Long Li, Xinfang Zhang, Yi Wang

Summary: This study analyzes the characteristics of process parameters in three lean gas ethane recovery processes and establishes a prediction and multiobjective optimization model for ethane recovery and system energy consumption. A new method for comparing ethane recovery processes for lean gas is proposed, and the addition of extra coolers improves the ethane recovery. The support vector regression model based on grey wolf optimization demonstrates the highest prediction accuracy, and the multiobjective multiverse optimization algorithm shows the best optimization performance and diversity in the solutions.

A novel deep-learning framework for short-term prediction of cooling load in public buildings

Cairong Song, Haidong Yang, Xian-Bing Meng, Pan Yang, Jianyang Cai, Hao Bao, Kangkang Xu

Summary: The paper proposes a novel deep learning-based prediction framework, aTCN-LSTM, for accurate cooling load predictions. The framework utilizes a gate-controlled multi-head temporal convolutional network and a sparse probabilistic self-attention mechanism with a bidirectional long short-term memory network to capture both temporal and long-term dependencies in the cooling load sequences. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method, which can serve as an effective guide for HVAC chiller scheduling and demand management initiatives.

The impact of social interaction and information acquisition on the adoption of soil and water conservation technology by farmers: Evidence from the Loess Plateau, China

Zhe Chen, Xiaojing Li, Xianli Xia, Jizhou Zhang

Summary: This study uses survey data from the Loess Plateau in China to evaluate the impact of social interaction on the adoption of soil and water conservation (SWC) technology by farmers. The study finds that social interaction increases the likelihood of farmers adopting SWC, and internet use moderates this effect. The positive impact of social interaction on SWC adoption is more pronounced for farmers in larger villages and those who join cooperative societies.
