Summary: This study analyzed the environmental impact and optimization potential of prefabricated components through a life cycle assessment method. It found that a prefabrication rate of 50% and 30% could reduce potential global warming impact by 31.78% and 13.94% respectively. However, the production of prefabricated components in China incurred a social cost of up to $4.35 billion, with Shandong and Hubei provinces being the key areas for optimization.

Summary: The PV industry relies on high-quality silica sand for the production of silicon PV. However, scarcity of high-quality deposits and the use of lower-quality resources can increase the carbon footprint and cumulative energy demand of PV modules. Outdated data has led to an underestimation of PV production's environmental impact. The study evaluates the carbon footprint and energy demand of quartz mining, silica sand extraction, and silicon production for different quartz deposits. It also highlights the potential environmental impact of illegal mining and the importance of third-party supply chain verifications.

Summary: Tourism puts pressure on the environment and is vulnerable to global warming. Research on tourism impacts has increased, but there is a lack of specific guidelines and data, making it difficult to obtain reliable results. This paper discusses the use of Footprint family indicators in tourism and highlights the lack of consensus and specific data in current research. Food production and transportation are identified as the main drivers of environmental burdens in tourism. The Footprint indicators help understand the trade-offs between environmental effects and can be used to prioritize sustainability efforts. The study also analyzes the influence of services provided to different rated tourism experiences and compares the pressure exerted by visitors and the local population.

Summary: Electric mobility is on the rise worldwide to reduce environmental impacts, decrease dependence on petroleum, and diversify energy sources for transportation. However, there are several knowledge gaps in the sustainability assessment of electric vehicles, such as the lack of socioeconomic assessment and integrated modeling approaches. Traditional life cycle assessment methods are not sufficient to analyze economic and social impacts and other related issues. To address these gaps, new approaches, such as life cycle sustainability assessment, are being developed. This research provides an overview of the current state of knowledge and identifies research gaps in the field of sustainability assessment of emerging technologies and electric vehicles.

Summary: This study provides a systematic literature review on the environmental and sustainability assessment of dark fermentative biohydrogen production. The majority of studies focus on life cycle inventory analysis, with a particular interest in the storage and application of biohydrogen. However, there are issues regarding the formulation of clear study goals and scopes, resulting in misrepresented environmental outcomes. Thus, further research and data support are needed for an accurate sustainability assessment of biohydrogen production.

Summary: Rice is a crucial crop in terms of human consumption, and assessing the sustainability of its production process is of great importance. This research investigates the recent literature on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of rice primary production to determine the extent to which Life Cycle Thinking (LCT) and sustainability have been applied in the rice sector, as well as identify research gaps. The study reveals limited consideration of multiple functional units, methodological differences leading to result variability, and inadequate focus on socio-economic aspects.

Summary: This study investigates the carbon footprint of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) produced in China using a cradle-to-cradle life-cycle assessment approach. The results show that battery production and use are the main sources of carbon emissions, with hydrometallurgy being the method with the lowest carbon emission for recycling. Battery remanufacturing through recycled materials can significantly reduce carbon emissions. The future electricity mix will greatly impact the carbon emissions of battery production. Short-term carbon reduction measures include battery recycling, while the long-term measure is greening the electricity sector.

Summary: Life cycle assessment was used to evaluate the environmental impacts of phytoplanktonic biofuels as sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels. Three scenarios were examined, involving the conversion of planktonic biomass into valuable commodities and energy streams. The results showed that the second and third scenarios had reduced potential for damaging human health and environmental impact, as well as reduced cumulative exergy demand compared to the first scenario. Therefore, producing chemicals and utilities within the biorefinery could significantly improve environmental sustainability, reduce waste, and diversify revenue streams.

Summary: This study analyzed the physiochemical and polyphenolic characteristics of Grillo wines produced by a selected winery from 2011 to 2021 using an optimized RP-HPLC-DAD method. The results showed the presence of three clusters in the samples, representing different vintages. Polyphenols were identified as suitable markers for identifying Grillo vintages and could be related to storage conditions and production processes.
