Summary: The ABO blood group and Rh blood group system are associated with many diseases, including cancer, infectious diseases, non-infectious diseases, bacterial, and viral diseases. Blood group A and B are found to be more susceptible to COVID-19 infection, while blood group O and AB have a lower risk.

Summary: This study assessed ABO blood groups and clinical characteristics among Saudi patients with COVID-19. Blood type O had the highest proportion, followed by blood types A, B, and AB. Men and patients aged 18-44 years had a higher percentage, with the majority experiencing clinical symptoms.

Summary: This meta-analysis examines the relationship between ABO blood group and COVID-19 infection. The study found that blood group O was associated with a lower risk of COVID-19, while blood group A and AB were associated with a higher risk. Further research is needed to fully understand the role of ABO blood group in COVID-19 infection.

Summary: ABO blood group antigens exhibit diverse phenotypes and genetically derived structures on the red cell surface. While the association between ABO antigens and the risk and prognosis of various tumors, particularly gastric and pancreatic cancers, is well-established, the relationship between ABO blood group and lymphoma remains controversial. This narrative review examines the role of ABO blood group in the risk and prognosis of lymphoma, providing insights into the underlying pathogenic mechanisms and discussing its potential association with racial disparities and pathological classification in lymphoma patients.

Summary: High preoperative and postoperative peak Ig M isoagglutinin titers were significantly associated with the risk of acute kidney injury (AKI) in ABO-incompatible liver transplantation. However, no significant differences were observed in other clinical outcomes based on isoagglutinin titers. This suggests that high isoagglutinin titers may serve as a warning sign for AKI risk after liver transplantation.

Summary: The ABO blood group has been found to play a role in COVID-19 disease, with the A blood group being more susceptible to severe symptoms while the O blood group shows protection against viral infection. The protective mechanism in the O blood group is believed to be linked to natural antibodies and ACE2 expression during senescence.

Summary: Scientists have found that blood group antigens can be inherited since the early 20th century, and relationships between ABO(H) and Lewis blood groups and human diseases have been summarized. Studies have also shown the important role blood group substances play in disease prevention and treatment, contributing to the development of novel therapeutic methods.

Summary: The study showed that less than one-third of principal investigators in COVID-19 clinical trials are women, which is significantly lower compared to breast cancer and type 2 diabetes mellitus trials. This gender disparity may indicate a lack of female leadership in international clinical trials and research activities during health emergencies.
