Summary: Carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) have excellent properties for solid-phase extraction (SPE), but practical difficulties in handling them have hindered their direct use. CNM-based membranes, either composed solely of CNMs or containing dispersed CNMs, have been developed as solutions. These membranes can be used as filters or rotating devices, providing advantages in terms of transport rates, adsorption capability, and ease of use. This review discusses the preparation and potential of these membranes in SPE applications, addressing their benefits and shortcomings compared to conventional SPE materials and devices.

Summary: Misuse and incorrect disposal of fluoroquinolones (FQs) have resulted in environmental pollution and contamination of FQs in food chains. As a result, researchers have been striving to develop innovative and simple techniques for FQs analysis in real samples, with a focus on micro- and macroscale dispersive solid-phase extraction (DSPE). Recent studies have reported the use of DSPE-based techniques for sample preparation and detection of FQs in various matrices. This study summarizes current FQs detection methods using chromatographic and DSPE-based combinations, and evaluates the advantages and analytical performance of DSPE in detecting trace levels of FQs.
