Summary: A circular city presents opportunities for the circular economy, but the role of the citizen in shaping both is understudied. This study reviews the role of the citizen in circular cities and investigates the case of Trondheim, where citizens are expected to engage in commercial or political activities, supported by the local government. The study concludes that a politically oriented citizenship can support the required public services and infrastructures.

Summary: This article assesses the integration of water and land concerns in EU circular economy action plans and member states' national plans, finding that water and land are not major concerns in comparison to materials or waste, and their integration is inconsistent. Water is more evident in the plans of southern countries, while land concerns are much more erratic. Further efforts should be made to ensure the integration of water and land concerns in circular economy plans for a more sustainable transition.

Summary: Despite the availability of billions of vaccine doses, less than three-quarters of EU citizens received a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of 2021. Trust, particularly in authorities, science, peers, and online networks, is a dominant factor in shaping citizens' attitudes, alongside education. Transition societies facing a crisis of distrust at various levels may have lower vaccination rates, highlighting the importance of addressing long-lasting structural issues and implementing reforms to repair the psychological contract between citizens and state authorities.

Summary: The study explores the various perceptions of barriers to the transition to circularity among European furniture companies. Through Q-methodology involving 30 furniture companies from five EU countries, it identifies four distinct patterns of perception with high reliability and weak correlations between them. Market and resources categories of barriers play a significant role in differentiating these patterns, highlighting the non-generalizable nature of barriers to circularity. Valuable insights are provided for the development of policies supporting circularity.

Summary: In order to reduce the negative impact of excessive fossil fuel usage and achieve a cleaner environment, researchers have encouraged the global community to explore alternative energy sources, in line with the Glasgow Climate Pact (COP26). This study examines the relationship between CO2 emissions, energy depletion, renewable energy development, and economic growth in the USA from 1980 to 2019. The results show that economic growth has a negative impact on the ecological balance in the USA, while energy depletion has a short and long-term negative effect on CO2 emissions, improving environmental sustainability. Transitioning to renewable energy sources also reduces overall pollution in the long run.
