Summary: This study systematically explores the emergence of health inequalities during the school-to-work and school-to-university transition for individuals aged 16-24 years. It summarizes the evidence on the potential effects of institutional contexts on health and health behaviors. The findings suggest that higher family socioeconomic position is associated with better health behaviors and lower levels of health-damaging behaviors. However, knowledge on the role of institutional contexts in health inequalities is limited.

Summary: The suicide mortality rate per 100 000 population (SMRP) in Japan has shown a consistent decrease until the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. This study aimed to identify trends and factors associated with suicidal mortality and motives among students in Japan from 2007 to 2022. The findings revealed that school-related, health-related, and family-related problems were major motives for suicide among students. The impact of health-related and family-related motives varied with age, and the rates associated with interpersonal relationships increased significantly during the pandemic.

Summary: This study adopts the Activity Theory to investigate how three English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers from three middle schools in a University-School community in China constructed their research identities and what factors influenced the construction. The findings show that the University-School collaborative program helps form a community of both teaching and research, where school EFL teachers continuously construct their identities as practitioners and researchers. The study highlights the internal factors such as research experience and career stage, as well as external factors including the curriculum reform context and communication in the community. These findings have important implications for school EFL teachers' research identity construction and professional development in the University-School cooperation.

The study suggests that the dental school of NTU is capable of providing more refined dentistry courses to align with the global trend of dental education.

Summary: This study reviewed the experience of treating abdominal lymphangiomas in our institution, describing the clinical features, management, and outcomes of this rare pathology. Most abdominal lymphangiomas arise from the small bowel and are found incidentally, with a favorable prognosis. Resection should be reserved for symptomatic lesions or when there is diagnostic uncertainty.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the factors influencing medical students' history-taking skills learning and develop a way to improve these skills. Through analyzing academic performance and conducting a survey, it was found that strengthening history-taking training is essential for training qualified medical students. Pre-internship training, including workshops with standard patients, had a positive impact on improving students' history-taking ability and communication skills.

Summary: Research shows that medical students' interest in research tends to decrease as they progress in their academic years. Additionally, a greater number of senior students feel that they lack the necessary skills to engage in scientific research, and perceive a lack of encouragement from professors. Moreover, most students do not participate in scientific dissemination events, and the main barriers to research are identified as a lack of funding and awareness of opportunities.

Summary: This study aimed to develop an instrument for measuring the master adaptive learning (MAL) process in medical students and evaluate its psychometric properties. The findings revealed that the original 67 items were reduced to 28 items that loaded onto four factors: Planning, Learning, Resilience, and Motivation. These findings serve as a starting point for future research to identify and support adaptive learners.
