The purpose of this work was to research the impact of N 2-fixing cyanobacterium Anabaena sp. supplementation in the diet or as a culture in the fishpond of Nile tilapia. The growth performance and chemical analysis of fish body were investigated before challenging with Aeromonas hydrophila (.A. hydrophila). While biochemistry of the serum, immunity, and health status of Nile tilapia were investigated before and after the challenge test. Oreochromis niloticus (monosex males) were randomly allotted into three groups, according to Anabaena sup-plementation in the fish diet or pond. Groups including, a control group was provided with the experimental diet without supplement, the AM ( Anabaena meal) group was provided with the experimental diet enclosure Anabaena (15 g/100 g rations), and the A ( Anabaena cultivated in the pond) group was provided with the ex-perimental diet but Anabaena was cultivated in the pond. The results showed that both ways of Anabaena supplementation significantly (P < 0.05) improved growth performance parameters and increased protein in body composition before A. hydrophila challenge compared with the control. On the other hand, the serum biochemical parameters and immunity status of Nile tilapia significantly (P < 0.05) improved before and after experimental challenge.

Summary: The data from this experiment showed that dietary inclusion of Vit. E and/or Se significantly improved production parameters without any negative impact on the general health status of broilers, as indicated by normal serum biochemical parameters. Additionally, these treatments positively affected the expression of some genes related to growth performance in the liver tissue of broilers.

Summary: The study demonstrated that heat stress had negative effects on the growth performance, serum biochemistry, tissue antioxidants, and phagocytic assay of broilers, leading to pathological lesions in internal organs and altered gene expression related to heat stress. However, supplementation of Ruminococcus alone or with digestive enzymes mitigated these negative effects and improved the parameters studied.

Ameliorating effect of probiotic on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and lipolytic gene expression in rabbits

Marina Aziz, Shabaan A. Hemeda, Ghadeer M. Albadrani, Sabreen E. Fadl, Fatma Elgendey

Summary: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) affects about 24% of people worldwide and is characterized by increased liver fat, inflammation, and cell death in severe cases. This study aimed to investigate the effects of a high-cholesterol diet on lipolytic gene expression, liver function, lipid profile, and antioxidant enzymes in rabbits, and the potential modulatory effects of Lactobacillus acidophilus (L. acidophilus) probiotics. The findings showed that a high-cholesterol diet induced hepatic vacuolation and upregulated lipoprotein lipase (LPL), hepatic lipase (HL), and cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) gene expression, while downregulating low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLr) gene expression. Additionally, it resulted in increased liver enzymes, cholesterol, triglycerides, and decreased high-density lipoprotein, total protein, albumin, and liver antioxidants. Probiotic supplementation, particularly L. acidophilus, helped to restore all parameters to normal levels.
