Summary: This study evaluated the impact of preoperative renal function on oncological outcomes in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma who underwent radical nephroureterectomy. The results showed that patients with chronic kidney disease had a higher risk of poor overall survival, cancer-specific survival, and progression-free survival.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the risk and protective factors of intimate partner psychological violence and psychological distress among nurses and to promote psychological well-being for nurses and health outcomes for patients. The findings suggest that factors such as marital status, contact frequency with a partner, past-year experience of psychological and physical violence, partner's alcohol consumption, and personality traits and social support of partners are predictors of psychological violence among nurses. Additionally, individual's alcohol consumption, past-year experience of psychological violence, psychological violence score, personality traits, social support, and partner's personality traits are associated factors affecting the psychological distress of nurses. The study concludes that personality traits and social support play crucial roles in the relationship between IP psychological violence and psychological distress.

Summary: This study examines the internal mechanisms of how certain personality traits trigger specific symptoms during and after college lockdown using network analysis. The findings reveal that depression was the central symptom during the lockdown, while efforts became the central symptom after the lockdown. Neuroticism was found to trigger certain symptoms during and after the lockdown, while extraversion and conscientiousness suppressed certain symptoms. The study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence of the role of personality traits in individuals' response to college lockdown during a pandemic.

Summary: In this study, it was found that patients with pre-treatment chronic kidney failure experienced significant improvement in renal function after PSMA-RLT treatment, and there was no significant correlation between the change in glomerular filtration rate and administered activities of [Lu-177]Lu-PSMA-617. Therefore, the nephrotoxic potential of [Lu-177]Lu-PSMA-617 RLT may be overestimated.

Summary: The study showed that the need for preoperative renal replacement therapy does not indicate irreversible renal dysfunction in patients awaiting heart transplantation. However, postoperative renal replacement therapy was associated with progression to end-stage renal disease and mortality after heart transplantation.

Summary: In the context of trauma experienced by patients following a cancer diagnosis and the expectation of surgical intervention, it is important to assess the psychological status using a unified and multidimensional approach. This assessment can help psycho-oncologists adapt their therapeutic interventions to alleviate stress caused by the cancer diagnosis and treatment. A study involving breast cancer patients and patients with breast lumps awaiting diagnosis found significant differences in self-esteem, depression, and cognitive schemas between the two groups. These differences were associated with personality traits and specific psychological changes.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between psychological distress and disability-free life expectancy (DFLE). A cohort study was conducted on 12,365 Japanese individuals aged 65 years and above, and follow-up was done for 13 years. The study found that the greater the psychological distress, the greater the loss of disability-free life expectancy, which was observed in both men and women.

Summary: The study aims to investigate the impact of preoperative mental state on postoperative satisfaction and quality of life in patients undergoing septoplasty and inferior turbinate ablation surgery. The results show that preoperative mental state is associated with postoperative satisfaction and quality of life, and an increase in preoperative psychological symptoms is related to a lower perception of postoperative quality of life.

Summary: Patients with end-stage kidney disease have a high prevalence of cardiovascular disease, which is the leading cause of death for them. Optimizing cardiovascular health before renal transplant can improve post-transplant outcomes. Various cardiovascular assessments and management strategies, including evaluating coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, impaired ventricular function, valvular disease, lifestyle factors, and pulmonary arterial hypertension, are important considerations for renal transplant candidates. This review aims to provide a foundation for implementing an enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocol for renal transplantation centers.

Summary: This study reveals a strong relationship between EMT, hypoxia, and angiogenesis, as well as a significant link between EMT regulators and aggressive tumor features and poor patient outcomes in prostate cancer. Co-expression of factors has an enhanced influence on outcome, especially in E-cadherin(low) carcinomas where Slug overexpression is associated with shorter time to all endpoints and is an independent predictor of time to multiple endpoints, including cancer-specific death.

Summary: The study aimed to determine whether follow-up protocols for pT1 renal cell carcinoma patients should be based solely on stage and type of primary surgery. Results showed that validated risk factors should also be considered in determining imaging methods and avoid unnecessary imaging, with a follow-up of more than 3 years recommended for patients with pT1 tumors after RN. A novel follow-up strategy is proposed.

Summary: This study investigated the differences in transcriptome, miRNA, and proteomic data in low-risk tumors progressing and non-progressing in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) patients. The researchers identified differentially expressed proteins, mRNAs, and miRNAs between progressing and non-progressing tumors. They developed a classifier using a combination of proteins, genes, and miRNAs that effectively differentiated progressing and non-progressing ccRCC, potentially aiding in the early identification of low-risk patients requiring closer surveillance and treatment adjustments.

Summary: This study investigated temperature profiles in the renal pelvis and parenchyma during TFL and Ho:YAG laser activation in an ex-vivo porcine model. It was found that higher laser power settings led to higher temperatures, and larger laser fibers caused significantly higher temperatures. These findings could help guide safe power settings for ureteroscopic lithotripsy, although further clinical studies are needed for confirmation.

Summary: The incidence of paediatric kidney stone disease is increasing, leading to a demand for endourological interventions. However, there are limited paediatric-specific nomograms and scoring systems available. The nomograms designed for shockwave lithotripsy show the strongest evidence, while adult tools may not be suitable for paediatric use. Further development of paediatric-specific tools is necessary.
