Summary: In this study, highly reflective and fluorescent asphalt binder modified with TiO2 QDs was proposed as an innovative strategy to mitigate the urban heat island phenomenon. The results showed that the solar reflectance and fluorescent intensity of the modified asphalt binder increased significantly compared to traditional asphalt binder. Microclimatic modeling also demonstrated that asphalt coating with TiO2 QDs could reduce air temperature by up to 2.9 degrees C.

Summary: Transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) dots, such as WS2 quantum dots (QDs), exhibit excellent photoluminescence performance and have been extensively applied in various fields. In this work, WS2 QDs were successfully prepared via a simple hydrothermal method and showed good stability and sensing capabilities for detecting hemoglobin (Hb) and myoglobin (Myo). The results indicate the potential of WS2 QDs for clinical diagnosis of Hb/Myo levels.

Summary: Fluorescence microscopy using fluorochrome has been rapidly developed as a promising method for identifying pathogenic fungi. However, the quenching properties of the fluorochrome limit its clinical use. In this study, we developed a nano-strategy to convert a commercial fluorescein dye into carbon dots, which can selectively recognize and rapidly image fungi. The carbon dots exhibit higher fluorescence quantum yield and improved photobleaching resistance, making them suitable for prolonged fluorescence observation and quantitative analysis of microbial samples.

Summary: In this study, blue, green, and red water-dispersible carbon dots (CDs) with trichromatic properties were prepared and analyzed for their morphological characteristics and optical properties. The results showed that adjustable fluorescent colors and white emission could be achieved by adjusting the mixing ratio of CDs, and multicolor polyvinyl alcohol fluorescent films were synthesized using CDs as pigments.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of Cs4PbBr6 encapsulation on the ultrafast carrier dynamics of CsPbBr3 nanoinclusions. The results show that Cs4PbBr6 encapsulation shortens the hot-carrier cooling time and increases the biexciton binding energy, which is attributed to the involvement of Cs4PbBr6 and the coupling to surface encapsulation. These findings provide important insights for the development of high-performance optoelectronic devices.

Summary: A simple, rapid and eco-friendly method for synthesis of nitrogen and sulfur doped carbon dots (N,S-CDs) was developed using sucrose and thiourea as carbon, nitrogen and sulfur sources. The N,S-CDs showed excellent optical and electronic properties, acted as a fluorescent probe, and were successfully used for determination of the anticoagulant drug, betrixaban maleate (BTM). The method exhibited good linearity, sensitivity, and specificity, and showed promise for quality control applications.
