Summary: The authors reviewed 75 cases of CBL and assessed the risk factors for local recurrence, growth plate-related complications, and the risk of arthritis after epiphyseal curettage. The results showed that more than 90% of CBLs can be successfully treated with aggressive curettage, but long-term complications such as growth plate damage or osteoarthritis may occur in some cases.

Summary: The study established evidence and expert opinion-based recommendations to guide health professionals using intra-articular therapies in adult patients with peripheral arthropathies. The recommendations focus on practical aspects to guide health professionals before, during, and after IAT in adult patients, covering a wide range of considerations that should be taken into account in practice.

Summary: Chondroblastoma is a rare benign cartilaginous lesion mainly found in the epiphyses of long bones. Open curettage and bone grafting are the main treatment methods, as the use of arthroscopy is rare due to incomplete removal and difficulty in bone graft delivery. This article describes the use of arthroscopic curettage and grafting for juxta-articular proximal humeral chondroblastoma, aiming to reduce postoperative pain and enable early mobilization and rehabilitation.

Summary: This study evaluated the mid- to long-term functional outcomes of TAA in stiff ankles, finding that preoperative ROM was predictive of postoperative gait function. Patients with stiff ankles showed the greatest absolute and relative improvements in objective function after TAA.

Summary: Intra-articular injection of tranexamic acid during total knee arthroplasty can effectively reduce postoperative blood loss, early postoperative inflammation levels, pain, and limb swelling in patients with haemophilia, enabling them to receive higher-quality rehabilitation exercises for better joint function. Previous studies have also shown the efficacy of intra-articular injections of tranexamic acid in reducing postoperative blood loss in haemophilic patients, and this study confirms the same.

Summary: This study compares surgical techniques used in conversion total knee arthroplasty (cTKA) after early failure of large osteochondral allograft joint replacement and evaluates postoperative patient reported outcomes measures (PROMs) and satisfaction scores compared to a primary total knee arthroplasty (pTKA) cohort. The results showed that cTKA had similar postoperative improvement as pTKA, but lower patient-reported satisfaction was associated with lower post-operative KOOS-JR scores.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the distribution of content within the synovial sheath of finger flexor tendons and describe the anatomical elements between the tendons and the palmar aspect of the proximal phalanx. Findings showed a homogeneous hypoechoic band around the tendons during the injection, different from patient images. Dissection of specimens revealed the distribution of the injected substance throughout the digital flexor sheath to the distal interphalangeal joint.

Summary: This study examined the outcomes of lateral unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) and the effect of postoperative limb alignment. The results showed that mild valgus undercorrection (3 degrees or less) was associated with lower clinical and functional scores and lower survivorship compared to moderate valgus (over 4 degrees). More correction of the coronal deformity is desirable in lateral UKA to achieve optimal results.

Summary: In nonoperatively treated tibial plateau fractures, the association between initial fracture displacement measured by gaps and stepoffs on CT images and functional outcome was examined. The survivorship of the native joint, free from conversion to a total knee prosthesis, was also evaluated.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the clinical outcomes and long-term survival of patellofemoral arthroplasty in treating isolated patellofemoral osteoarthritis. A total of 46 surgeries in 38 patients were retrospectively analyzed with a follow-up period of 18.9-29.6 years. The implant survivorship at 15 years, 20 years, and 25 years were 83.6%, 76.8%, and 59.4% respectively. The functional assessment showed a mean Knee Society Score of 73.0 and a mean Oxford Knee Score of 25.8.

Summary: The rates of septic failure increased over time following two-stage revision surgery for PJI after THA, with at least one positive culture or positive intraoperative frozen section significantly associated with septic failure after reimplantation. Aseptic failure, with dislocation being the most common cause, had a lower incidence rate over time. Recurrent infection within five years following reimplantation may indicate a lower risk of further infection. Surgeons should consider factors like instability as potential indications for further revision surgery.

Summary: This study compares the outcomes and survival of two different approaches for hip replacement in young patients. Both approaches, involving different types of stem, showed good implant survival rates and functional outcomes at a medium-term follow-up. However, complications and radiolucent lines were more frequent with the collarless conventional-length stem.

Summary: The study aimed to compare the outcomes of internal fixation for Vancouver B2 periprosthetic femoral fractures with those of B1 fractures treated with internal fixation and B2 fractures treated with revision arthroplasty. Results showed similar implant survival rates among the different treatment groups, suggesting that low-demand patients with B2 fractures around well-cemented polished femoral components and intact bone-cement interfaces can safely undergo internal fixation.
