Summary: This study examines the interrelation between parental and children's mental health over time. Using a birth cohort study of 5,217 children in Scotland, a Random Intercept Cross-lagged Panel Model is applied to analyze the effects of parental mental health on children's conduct problems and emotional symptoms, and vice versa. The results suggest that the impact of parental mental health and child conduct problems and emotional symptoms on one another is roughly equal in early childhood, but at older ages, children's emotional symptoms have a more significant reciprocal effect on parental mental health. The study emphasizes the importance of addressing this bidirectional process and the role of structural inequalities, particularly poverty, in determining parental and children's mental health.

Summary: The study found stronger associations between depressive symptoms and N1 and N3 sleep stages, as well as a more significant transition from N1 to wake stage in individuals with more severe depressive symptoms. Those with more depressive symptoms were also more likely to transition from N2 to N3 and from REM to N2. These findings suggest that changes in sleep architecture may serve as an important marker for subclinical depression.

Summary: This study found an inverse relationship between self-compassion and neural activity during sad self-face recognition, with self-compassion correlating negatively with activity in the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex in the total sample. In depressed adolescents, higher self-compassion was associated with lower activity in the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex during sad self-face recognition, suggesting less cognitive effort might be needed to regulate negative affect induced by sad self-faces.

Summary: The brain systems of episodic memory and oculomotor control are closely connected, suggesting the importance of eye movements in memory formation. This study investigates the neural mechanisms of memory formation during unrestricted viewing behavior using simultaneous eye tracking and EEG recording. Three distinct neural mechanisms, characterized by fixation-locked theta and alpha EEG activity, were identified in the encoding process. These mechanisms rapidly turned on and off during the unfolding eye movement sequences, contributing to the buildup of coherent episodic memories.

Summary: Transgender and nonbinary young adults (TNB YA) experience high rates of depression and suicidality, with parental rejection being a known predictor. This study aimed to examine the relationship between TNB YA's perception of sibling and parental acceptance-rejection with their depression and suicidality.

Summary: The increased rates of depression in adolescence can be partially attributed to changes in reward systems and interpersonal relationships. This study found that depressive symptoms interact with maternal conflict to affect reward responsiveness in adolescents with clinical depression, particularly in the social reward domain.

Summary: Despite challenges posed by pose, occlusions, and complex lighting conditions, we propose an unsupervised coarse-to-fine framework for reconstructing 3D faces with detailed textures. Our method utilizes self-augmentation learning and rich face-related features to handle diverse variations and produce plausible facial details even under extreme conditions. Through evaluations on CelebA and AFLW2000 datasets, we demonstrate the robustness and superiority of our approach compared to state-of-the-art methods in terms of PSNR, SSIM, and IDentity similarity.

Summary: The study revealed age-related changes in sleep spindle characteristics, with spindle wave frequency increasing linearly with age, central spindle density peaking at 15.1 years, and spindle wave amplitude and duration showing different patterns of change. Sex differences were observed in spindle amplitude dynamics, with females experiencing the most rapid decline 1.4 years earlier than males. These findings suggest maturation of thalamocortical circuits and changes in sleep depth over the course of development.

Summary: This study explores the impact of digital communication on adolescent wellbeing through momentary affective experiences during online and face-to-face social interactions. Results show that adolescents experience less positive affect when alone compared to online interaction, but more positive affect and less negative affect and loneliness when interacting face-to-face. Exploratory analysis did not find a support for the hypothesis that individuals with more social support benefit more from online interaction.

Summary: The study found that mothers' anxiety levels at child age 7 and increases in fathers' anxiety levels from child age 7 to child age 15 were associated with adolescent anxiety and depression in girls at age 15, but not in boys. Parental anxiety may have a stronger predictive role in emotional issues for female adolescents.
