Summary: This study investigated the relationship between preschoolers' feelings of hunger and fullness and their learning-related skills, finding that feeling full improved impulsivity and attention, while feeling hungry improved inhibitory control. These findings highlight the independent mediation of diet composition and feelings of hunger and fullness on children's learning outcomes.

Summary: In cognitively normal older adults aged 60 and above, lower baseline muscle mitochondrial function is associated with mobility decline, with decline in muscle strength and mass potentially explaining part of this association. These findings highlight the potential contribution of mitochondrial dysfunction to mobility decline with aging, which needs further validation in studies on longitudinal changes in mitochondrial function, muscle, and mobility performance.

Summary: The study found that higher 2-hour glucose values in the OGTT were associated with worse performance in the word-list delayed recall test after 10 years. This suggests that 2-hour glucose values may predict a decline in episodic memory 10 years later.

Summary: Older adults with discordant biological and chronological ages may differ in cognitive and physical function from those with concordant ages. By creating participant groups based on medians of chronological age and a previously validated biological age index, we can assess these differences in a clinically accessible manner. The results show that older adults with larger age discordance perform worse in cognition and frailty, while those with smaller age discordance perform better.

Summary: This study investigates the predictive role of heart rate variability (HRV) in cognitive decline among individuals with normal cognition or mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The findings suggest that HRV response to different physical challenges is associated with decline in specific cognitive domains.

Summary: Living alone, being physically inactive, and having poor self-rated health amplify the negative impact of an injurious fall on functional status. Among individuals who endure an injurious fall, the heterogeneity in long-term functional status is substantial, depending on the individuals' characteristics and behaviors.

Summary: This study finds that increasing maternal depressive symptoms during the perinatal period are associated with poorer executive function outcomes in children at the age of 4, independent of prenatal smoking, drinking, or antidepressant use. The chronicity, severity, and postpartum influences of depression may play crucial roles in determining childhood executive function outcomes.

Summary: This study found that plasma homocysteine (Hcy) levels may modify the association between red blood cell n-3 PUFA and executive function. Individuals with high Hcy levels may benefit less from n-3 PUFA supplementation to prevent cognitive decline.

Summary: Research suggests that continuous subjective cognitive decline (SCD) scores are correlated with prior objective cognitive changes in non-demented individuals, though this association appears to be driven by individuals with current mild cognitive impairment (MCI). However, participants' current depression and anxiety ratings tend to be strongly associated with their SCD ratings. Thus, the primary factors driving SCD ratings remain unclear.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between individual anxiety disorders, generalized anxiety symptoms, and multiple cognitive domains. The results show that agoraphobia is associated with worse scores on all cognitive domains and higher odds of cognitive impairment. High scores on the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale (GAD-7) are associated with worse scores on processing speed and higher odds of cognitive impairment. Panic disorder is significantly associated with worse scores on memory tasks. These associations are stronger in younger participants and in those with type 2 diabetes.

Summary: Increasing evidence suggests a close association between chronic pain and executive function, which can predict the development of chronic pain. However, executive function is not robust in predicting the etiology and degree of chronic pain interference.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the use of FGF23, FEP/FGF23, TRP, T50, and Klotho in predicting the rapid decline of renal function in kidney allograft recipients. The results showed a significant association between T50 and a rapid decline of renal function, while other phosphocalcic markers were not significantly associated.
