Summary: Intradermal injection of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for periorbital pathologies shows promising results in improving patient satisfaction in treating wrinkles, periorbital hyperpigmentation (POH), and photoaging. Future studies should address limitations in the current literature and focus on long-term follow-up and minimizing bias in randomized controlled trials.

Summary: This systematic review and network meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy of different treatments for oral hyperpigmentation. The results showed that Er:YAG laser was highly effective in preventing pigment recurrence, diode laser was effective in managing bleeding risks, and Er,Cr:YSGG laser was particularly efficacious in managing postoperative pain.

Summary: This study summarizes the experience of the International Peeling Society on the safety and effectiveness of deep chemical peeling in the treatment of constitutional periorbital dark circles. The results show that 89% of patients had >50% clinical improvement and the median duration of improvement was 1.5-168 months.

Summary: This study reviewed data on hydroquinone-associated ochronosis and found that the most commonly affected patients were middle-aged women, of African descent, Black races, and Fitzpatrick skin types V-VI. Ochronosis was most often associated with hydroquinone concentrations greater than 4% and treatment courses longer than 3 months.

Summary: This study systematically integrated data on oral pigmented lesions associated with syndromes, identifying nine syndromes in 149 cases. Most affected individuals were white females, with lip and buccal mucosa being the most common anatomical locations for multiple brownish lesions. The majority of cases showed oral pigmented lesions preceding the diagnosis of syndromes.

Summary: This article evaluates the efficacy, safety, side effects, and complications of pharmacological treatments for gynecomastia. It suggests that pharmacological intervention with tamoxifen is appropriate for relieving behavioral and psychological distress, although high-quality studies on various drugs are needed.

Summary: The economic evaluation of active tuberculosis treatments is limited, but suggests cost-effective interventions such as shorter treatment durations and decentralized care. New treatment strategies like regimens with shorter durations or decentralized care are recommended for improving therapeutic outcomes of active TB.

Summary: This review summarizes the level of evidence concerning interventions for persistent post-concussion symptoms (PCS) after mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI). Cognitive training, psycho-education, cognitive behavioral therapy, and graded return to physical activity showed some effectiveness in alleviating persistent PCS. Oculomotor rehabilitation, light therapy, and headache management using repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation seem effective for somatic complaints and sleep disorders. However, there is limited evidence for the beneficial effect of Methylphenidate, and the preventive effect of early interventions remains debatable.

Summary: The microstructure and mechanical properties of enamel and dentine in cases of dentine disorders like dentinogenesis imperfecta and osteogenesis imperfecta are significantly altered, resulting in reduced mineral density, hardness, modulus of elasticity, and abnormal microstructure in the affected tissues. Clinical recommendations for adhesive cementation include preserving residual enamel, sandblasting tooth surfaces for increased roughness, choosing a universal adhesive, and reinforcing enamel and dentine with infiltrant resins. Additional in vivo studies are needed to confirm these findings based on in vitro research.

Summary: Hyperemesis gravidarum, which affects a significant number of pregnant women and is a leading cause of hospitalization in early pregnancy, lacks consistent and high-quality evidence for effective treatment options. Recent collaboration efforts have highlighted the importance of research in this area for both patients and clinicians.

Summary: This systematic review summarizes the treatment outcomes for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, finding that the current treatment approaches have unsatisfactory rates of complete response. However, combination therapies, laser and energy-based devices, and topical therapies showed high rates of partial response.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of orthodontic treatments on unilateral posterior crossbite (UPXB) in primary and early mixed dentition, with 11 studies included. The quality of the studies was found to be higher compared to previous reviews, but issues such as heterogeneity of treatments and measurement strategies limit the ability to provide reliable scientific evidence on the most effective UPXB treatment.

Summary: Sleep disorders are common comorbidities in patients with a Disorder of Consciousness. Detecting and treating sleep disorders can be an effective strategy to improve consciousness recovery and levels of awareness. Existing studies have shown that both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments are effective for sleep disorders and levels of awareness. Therefore, clinical evaluations should be conducted to detect sleep disorders in these patients and provide timely treatment.
