Summary: The study focuses on wind-driven circulation in the North Sea, revealing that local wind field extremes regulated by orography and oceanic contributions play a key role in controlling circulation in the northern North Sea. Wind is influenced by large-scale forcing, and is closely related to volume transports. Transports through the Norwegian Trench are more strongly correlated with the wind field, primarily due to local wind extrema.

Summary: This study aims to develop a new model of a B-spline surface using a different approach of a crisp and fuzzy linguistic point relation to analyze and describe uncertain fuzzy linguistic data sets. By defining linguistic functions and presenting an algorithm, the fuzzy linguistic data is converted into fuzzy linguistic control points to address the problem. The numerical example shows the effectiveness of the suggested model.

Summary: The study examined the structural and optical properties of non-polar a-plane (11 (2) over bar0) AlN template grown using a three-step pulsed flow growth method on a semi-polar r-plane (1 (1) over bar 02) sapphire substrate. Results showed significantly improved crystalline quality, optical properties, and surface morphology compared to conventional one-step growth methods. The three-step pulsed flow growth method resulted in enhanced light transmittance, steep absorption edge, and superior surface morphology.

Summary: Surface undulation occurred during the growth of InGaN/GaN multi-quantum wells on a semi-polar m-plane (1-100) sapphire substrate. Two distinct facets were formed in the embedded MQWs, parallel to (11 (2) over bar2) and (01 (1) over bar 11), respectively. The structural and luminescence characteristics of these facets were investigated, and it was found that the indium incorporation differed between the two facets.

Summary: Condition monitoring is crucial for the continuous operation and durability of critical and expensive CFRP composite infrastructures, requiring the development of accurate and robust monitoring techniques. A proposed algorithm utilizes measured strain signals to establish real-time strain field predictions of CFRP plates, independent of structural properties and sensor layout. Various loadings were applied to evaluate the algorithm's accuracy, and time and frequency domain analysis were conducted to recognize dynamic CFRP plate responses.

Summary: Considerable research has been focused on semi-polar (11-22) InGaN light-emitting diodes due to high demand for high indium adsorption materials. The study shows that indium flux and 2D nanoscale strain periodic alternating superlattices affect the surface evolution during growth, with a direct correlation between surface evolution, crystal quality, and optical properties demonstrated. The use of AlN/GaN strain periodic alternating superlattices significantly improved the crystal quality of semi-polar (11-22) InGaN light-emitting diodes.

Summary: This study presents a theoretical framework that combines the laser rate equations and cavity perturbation theory for micro-cavity lasers with optical anisotropies. By deriving polarization-resolved coupled-mode equations, the method offers physical insights and accuracy comparable to finite-difference time-domain methods, saving time and suitable for semi-analytic studies.

Summary: Daily mean land surface temperature (DMLST) is crucial for studying global climate change. A generalized method is proposed to estimate global DMLST using daytime and nighttime observations from any POTIRS since 1981. The method employs a simple linear regression based on in situ LST measurements and provides highly accurate estimates under all-weather conditions.

Summary: This study successfully improved the surface morphology and crystalline quality of semi-polar AlN epilayers by inserting MTG AlN interlayers. The effect of variations in the thickness of the MTG AlN interlayer was investigated, revealing that the best results were achieved with an 80 nm thick dual MTG AlN interlayer.

Summary: By adjusting the V/III ratio and trimethylindium flow rates, the characteristics of semi-polar (11-22) plane AlInGaN quaternary alloys can be improved, such as decreasing In composition, optimizing surface morphology, crystalline quality, and optical properties, and significantly suppressing phase separation in the quaternary alloy.

Summary: This study establishes a method that connects the heat transfer of nano-structured surfaces with the macroscopic bubble boiling process, revealing the mechanism of boiling heat transfer on nano-structured surfaces. The method is validated and can quantitatively simulate the bubble growth behaviors on nano-structured surfaces. The results indicate that the heat transfer contribution of the micro-layer to bubble growth cannot be neglected.

Summary: Segmenting complex 3D geometry is a challenging task due to rich structural details and complex appearance variations of the target object. To address this, a novel semi-implicit representation method called Non-Uniform Implicit B-spline Surface (NU-IBS) is proposed, along with a two-stage cascade classifier incorporating a simplistic Naive-Bayesian model and a stronger pseudo-3D Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) multi-scale classifier. This method is evaluated on a 3D cardiovascular CTA image dataset and Brain Tumor Image Segmentation Benchmark 2015 (BraTS2015) 3D MRI dataset.

Summary: This study found a relatively lower lifetime prevalence of GAD compared to community surveys based on lay interviewers and structured interviews. However, identified cases of GAD had a significant impact on quality of life, regardless of comorbidity, and women were at higher risk for GAD.
