Summary: This article provides detailed information on the biology of Ginkgo biloba, covering its ecological characteristics, distribution, habitat, responses to environment and biotic factors, physiological structure, reproductive and seed characters, and the impact of diseases and pests. Ginkgo has a strong adaptability globally, with high tolerance to temperature variations, drought, and fire. Stem rot and leaf blight are common diseases in nursery seedlings and juvenile trees, which can be mitigated through shading and fertilization. Ginkgo biloba is one of the world's most distinctive trees, with significant importance in plant evolution and human society.

Summary: This systematic review evaluated the effects of Ginkgo biloba for tinnitus in adults and children. The findings suggest that Ginkgo biloba may have little to no effect on reducing tinnitus symptoms compared to placebo. The evidence for other secondary outcomes was uncertain. The effectiveness and safety of Ginkgo biloba with concurrent interventions also remain unclear. Future research should use rigorous methodology and validated outcome measures.

Summary: This study investigated the cognitive effects of EGb 761 (R) treatment in patients after acute ischemic stroke. The results showed that EGb 761 (R) treatment significantly improved overall cognitive function, especially in language learning and shape tracking. This suggests that EGb 761 (R) treatment has a positive effect on improving cognitive function in stroke patients.

Summary: This meta-analysis compared the efficacy and safety of ginkgo biloba preparations combined with donepezil hydrochloride vs. donepezil for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The results showed that ginkgo biloba preparations plus donepezil can improve clinical effectiveness rate and vocabulary memory outcomes. However, more relevant high-quality RCTs are needed in the future to validate these results.

Summary: In this study, a HPLC-DAD method was developed to separate and determine five major biflavonoids in ginkgo. Tissue-specific profiling revealed that biflavonoids were not detected in plant parts not in direct contact with the environment. Leaves had the highest total biflavonoids content, with sciadopitysin being the predominant compound, while amentoflavone was the predominant biflavonoid in the bark.

Summary: Parkinson's disease (PD) lacks effective and safe treatments, but Ginkgo biloba dropping pill (GBDP) shows potential as an alternative therapy with its antioxidant and neuroprotective effects. GBDP demonstrated higher levels of certain compounds compared to the G. biloba extract EGb 761, and showed greater neuroprotective effects in in vitro and in vivo PD models. The Akt/GSK3 beta pathway may be involved in the neuroprotective effects of GBDP.

Summary: This study aims to compare the changes in memory and executive functions in participants consuming GBE/MST, GBE alone, and placebo for 24 weeks through a double-blind randomized assignment. The alterations in the default mode network will be evaluated by comparing the rs fMRI findings between baseline and 24 weeks in different groups. These results will clarify the impact of GBE on cognitive function and the functional mechanism behind altered cognitive function induced by GBE components.

Summary: The study aimed to analyze the subgroup of the Sunbeam trial and determine whether the intervention was effective in reducing falls among LTC residents with mild-moderate cognitive impairment/dementia. The results showed that the Sunbeam program significantly reduced falls and improved physical performance in cognitively impaired LTC residents. Progressive resistance and balance exercise was found to be a safe and effective fall prevention intervention in this population.

Summary: This study evaluated the cost-effectiveness of different overlay strategies using life-cycle cost analysis and probabilistic pavement performance models based on survival analysis. The results showed that there was a significant difference in survival probabilities between thin and thick overlays, while the overlay material type or milling had no significant impact on pavement service life. Thin overlays were more cost-effective in terms of life-cycle cost when traffic was not considered, while thick overlays were more cost-effective for pavements in wet areas with high traffic volumes.

Summary: An Ag nanowire network was prepared by electrospinning and magnetron sputtering, and transferred to a quartz substrate to obtain a UV-visible TCE with high transmittance. The addition of an ITO functional layer further improved electron conductivity and inhibited electronic recombination. The PEC UV detector based on this new electrode system showed excellent self-powered response performance and an extended response range.

Summary: Different subsets of CD8+ T cells are associated with clinical features and serological parameters in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Naive CD8+ T cells are negatively correlated with disease activity, while CD8+ CD28-T cells and CD8+ CD27-T cells are positively correlated with disease activity. Activated CD8+ T cells and TCR gamma E+ CD8+ T cells may be involved in inflammation and lipid metabolism in RA.

Summary: This study analyzes the stable isotopes of hydrogen and oxygen in the Shiyang River Basin to investigate the moisture sources and transport processes in this arid area. The results show that westerly winds and monsoons play important roles in moisture flux, and there is spatial variation in the isotopic values of precipitation. Precipitation from maritime sources is depleted in oxygen-18 compared to continental sources, while enrichment of oxygen-18 is associated with continental sources affected by evapotranspiration and secondary evaporation.
