Summary: Liver fibrosis is a reversible pathological process characterized by the accumulation of extracellular matrix proteins within the liver, leading to the deposition of fibrotic tissues and liver dysfunction. Circular noncoding RNAs (CircRNAs) have stable closed loop structures and can increase target gene levels by acting as microRNA (miRNA) sponges. Recent studies suggest that CircRNAs play a crucial role in liver fibrosis and may serve as potential diagnostic and prognostic markers. This review summarizes the roles of CircRNAs and explores their underlying mechanisms, focusing on the latest research on key CircRNAs involved in regulating liver fibrosis. The findings provide valuable insights for future research and applications of CircRNAs in managing liver fibrosis, laying the groundwork for their use in diagnosis and treatment.

Summary: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are single-stranded, covalently closed RNA molecules formed by mRNA exon back-splicing. They have various biological activities, including acting as competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to absorb microRNA (miRNA), binding proteins, regulating transcription or splicing, and ability to be translated into proteins or peptides. Abnormal expression of circRNAs in various cancers has been found to be highly correlated with tumor progression, making them potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets in diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Summary: In this study, the role of lncRNAs and circRNAs in the pathogenesis of HCC was investigated using expression profiles from a database. A lncRNA-mRNA network was established based on their correlation, and a circRNA/lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA co-expression network was constructed. Among the differentially expressed genes in this network, 55 miRNAs were found to be closely related to the prognosis of HCC. These findings provide new insights for further research and treatment of HCC.

Summary: In this study, the differentially expressed circRNAs and mRNAs induced by CE treatment in db/db mice were identified using RNA-seq. The ceRNA regulatory network was constructed, revealing that circRNA.5549 and circRNA.4712 might play a promotive role in CE-treated db/db mice, potentially regulating the expression of multiple genes. These findings suggest that the ceRNA regulatory network of circRNA.5549 and circRNA.4712 could be a therapeutic target for diabetic nephropathy.

Summary: This study investigates the regulatory function of circRNA in the immune response of goats infected with Pasteurella multocida. Infected goats exhibited clinical symptoms such as depression, cough, nasal discharge, dyspnea, elevated body temperature, and lung lesions. The findings suggest that P. multocida may induce pneumonia and immune response in goats through the regulation of circRNA expression.
