Summary: This study analyzed the engagement of 60 older adults with multimorbidity in a digital health platform for symptom and well-being monitoring over a period of approximately 12 months. The findings showed high overall engagement, with over 80% of participants using the technology devices for over 200 days. The frequency of submission for symptom parameters was higher than that of self-report and weight, with exercise and sleep submissions being more frequent. Most interactions occurred in the morning, with 10 am being the most common time for symptom parameter submissions and 8 am for weight measurements.

Summary: Vietnam's health care system is facing challenges due to an aging population, shifting disease burden, and infectious disease outbreaks. There are health disparities in rural areas, and access to patient-centered care is unequal. The use of digital health technologies (DHTs) may offer solutions to these issues.

Summary: In the context of self-tracking technologies, consumer interactions with technology create new subjectivities, categorized as dichotomies of "health and indulgence" and "labour and leisure," leading to the emergence of subjectivities like "redemptive self," "awardee," "loyal," and "innovator" as consumers move between different dichotomies. This study offers novel insights into consumer segmentation by examining the various facets of consumer behavior in their interactions with self-tracking technologies.

Summary: Restrictions caused by COVID-19 have forced higher education institutions to quickly adopt digital technologies to support teaching and learning. A study was conducted to explore the contribution of digital technologies to teaching and learning practices. The review identified three core themes regarding student engagement with digital technologies, including the lack of consensus on what constitutes student engagement, a lack of explanation on contextual variation and modalities of student engagement, and self-reporting as the primary method of measuring student engagement. These findings highlight the need for multiple datasets and methodological approaches to gain further insights into student engagement with digital technologies.

Summary: This review summarized the state of patient activation interventions for self-management of chronic conditions, identified effective intervention elements, and compared intervention effectiveness across different chronic conditions. While most interventions showed significant improvement in patient activation, meta-analysis of some randomized controlled trials did not confirm these findings. It is suggested that patient activation should be uniformly assessed and addressed across all chronic conditions to enhance patient engagement in care.

Summary: This study examines the impact of patient characteristics on the use of patient engagement technology during the perioperative period. The findings show that female and privately insured patients are more likely to use the technology, while black patients are less likely to do so. Once engaged, privately insured patients are more likely to complete surveys and health checks, while black patients are less likely to participate. These results highlight significant disparities in the use of perioperative technology based on gender, race/ethnicity, and insurance status.

Summary: Digital health interventions are increasingly integrated into healthcare workflows to improve patient care efficiency. Sustained patient engagement with these interventions can maximize their benefits on healthcare outcomes. This viewpoint outlines the concept of dynamic patient engagement through various communication channels and the potential use of omnichannel engagement to integrate these channels. The implementation principles of omnichannel engagement for digital health interventions and digital twins are also discussed. The flexibility for personalization in omnichannel engagement can enhance and sustain patient engagement, leading to improved patient care and outcomes. The novel concept of omnichannel engagement in healthcare has great potential to benefit patients and the healthcare system when fully realized.

Summary: This study investigates the extent to which the use of digital technologies affects operational effectiveness of emerging market manufacturing SMEs via talent management and employee engagement during the pandemic. The findings suggest that talent management mediates the relationship between the use of digital technologies and employee engagement, thereby leading to operational effectiveness. The study also found that strategic decision-making speed moderates the relationship between use of digital technologies and talent management.

Summary: The Bayesian-brain framework suggests that the effects on the body are the result of the interaction between priors and likelihood. While the role of priors has been extensively studied, the relevance of likelihood has been overlooked. Attention is proposed as a way to manipulate the relevance of likelihood by focusing on specific components of somatosensorial information. Mindful attention and selective attention are particularly relevant in this framework, and attention has the potential to be a major player in placebo/nocebo research. Attentional strategies could actively involve individuals in shaping their care process and health.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a Virtual Reality-based self-help intervention (COVID Feel Good) in reducing psychological distress during the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran. The intervention group showed improvements in depression, stress, anxiety, and perceived stress, but not in hopelessness. Secondary outcomes revealed an increase in perceived social connectedness and a significant reduction in fear of COVID-19. These findings contribute to the growing evidence supporting the use of digital self-help interventions for well-being during this unique period.

Summary: This study developed a new instrument called EXIT 360 degrees, which utilizes 360 degrees technologies to provide an ecologically valid assessment of executive functioning, and compared it with traditional neuropsychological tests to evaluate its convergent validity. Through the evaluation of 77 healthy subjects, the results showed a significant correlation between the EXIT 360 degrees total score and all neuropsychological tests, as well as a correlation between the EXIT 360 degrees total reaction time and timed neuropsychological tests. The usability assessment also showed good results. In conclusion, this study serves as an initial validation step towards considering the EXIT 360 degrees as a standardized instrument for ecologically valid assessment of executive functioning, but further research is needed to evaluate its effectiveness in discriminating between healthy control subjects and patients with executive dysfunctions.

Summary: Growing evidence has shown that motor simulation and spatial perspective-taking play crucial roles in action language. However, there is still a lack of understanding of the interaction between motor and spatial processes in the presence of multiple actors, as well as the consistency of embodied processes across cultures. To address this gap, the researchers conducted a study using an online sentence-picture verification task with Italian and US English speakers. The results showed that motor simulation and perspective-taking are independent processes that interact during sentence comprehension, and there is evidence of cross-cultural consistency in embodied processing of action language.

Summary: Space can be used metaphorically to describe semantic and perceptual similarity, and research has shown that similarity and spatial information can influence each other. Similarity is associated with spatial closeness, while proximity leads to similarity judgments. It is unknown if phonological similarity/dissimilarity is represented as spatial closeness/distance in declarative memory.

Summary: The body is a unique object that represents the physical aspect of ourselves and serves as a medium for interacting with the world. Our awareness of the body includes the mental representation of our own body, which has traditionally been described as body schema and body image. This paper aims to reconcile the existing literature on body representations by proposing the concept of body memory. Body memory develops throughout our lives and is closely linked to the development of our self and identity. This accumulation of multisensory knowledge stored as implicit memory in our bodies plays a fundamental role in shaping our sense of self and can have implications for mental health. The Embodied Medicine approach suggests the use of advanced technologies to modify dysfunctional body memory and improve well-being. Recent experimental evidence will be presented to illustrate how specific interventions targeting bodily information, such as interoceptive feedback and bodily illusions, can enhance health and well-being.
