Summary: This study investigates the feasibility of developing a buccal film impregnated with paliperidone-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) and demonstrates its potential as an alternative therapy for the treatment of schizophrenia, with improved bioavailability. The optimized NLC dispersions showed desired characteristics and the developed film exhibited excellent properties. The pharmacokinetics profile in rabbits supports the efficacy of the buccal therapy, showing higher AUC(0-12) and relative bioavailability compared to the control.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-cancer effects of Umbelliprenin (UMB) loaded onto nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) coated with folic acid-bound chitosan. The UMB-NCF-NPs formulation showed high drug entrapment and slow release. In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated the ability of UMB-NCF-NPs to inhibit cancer cells by activating apoptosis and reducing angiogenesis.

Summary: Chronic ocular diseases have a significant impact on vision and the potential to cause blindness. Developing sophisticated, long-acting drug delivery systems is crucial for treating these conditions. This review explores non-invasive drug delivery nanocarriers that can control chronic eye disorders, although most are still in preclinical or clinical stages.

Summary: This study successfully formulated six novel alkyl chain derivatives of click-tambjamines in nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs). The experiments showed that these NLC formulations efficiently delivered highly lipophilic anionophores without compromising their transport activity in model liposomes. These findings provide a foundation for the study and potential drug applications of highly lipophilic anionophores.

Summary: This study successfully incorporated hydrophilic streptomycin sulphate (STRS) into a lipid matrix of solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) with high drug loading and entrapment efficiency, achieving stability and enhanced antibacterial activity through oral administration. Characterization included microscopic, thermal, diffraction, and spectroscopic analyses, demonstrating zero-order controlled release. The SLNs also showed enhanced intracellular uptake and reduced MIC against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, with confirmed safety in cytotoxicity and acute toxicity studies. Pharmacokinetic studies in rats revealed a significant increase in oral absorption and bioavailability compared to the free drug.

Summary: This study presented a special lipid-polyethylene glycol matrix solid lipid nanoparticles for ocular drug delivery, which successfully encapsulated a hydrophilic drug with no burst release. The system showed higher flux than marketed drops and maintained efficacy without compromising safety and stability. These nanoparticles could reach the retina and the transport mechanism was described through corneal and non-corneal pathways.

Summary: Chemotherapy is widely used in gastric cancer treatment as an adjuvant when surgery is not feasible or in the presence of metastasis. Chemoresistance is a major challenge in cancer therapy, leading to tumor recurrence and treatment failure. Despite known mechanisms of chemoresistance, a universal marker for chemoresistant cancer cells has not yet been identified.

Summary: The extensive use of agricultural pesticides increases the risk of public exposure to pesticides over time, but little attention has been paid to prevention. This study explores the potential protective effect of OleA, a component of extra virgin olive oil, against pesticide-induced cellular toxicity. The findings suggest that OleA can maintain cellular function and prevent epigenetic modification in the presence of certain pesticides.
