Summary: This study investigated the impact of higher recirculation air rates in aircraft cabins on passengers' health and well-being, and the role of occupancy in this. The results showed that passengers in half-occupied cabins had minimal reactions to increased recirculation air rates, while passengers in fully occupied cabins reported higher sleepiness and stress reactions when the recirculation air rate was high.

Summary: This study compares the affect improvement between horticultural activities and green exercise and verifies the value of horticultural activities and green exercise in improving human affect and the importance of green plants. The results showed that having green horticulture can give the same intensity as green exercise and affect improvement. Green plants are the key factor in improving the affect of horticultural activities. People can choose between green exercise or horticultural activities based on their preferences and physical characteristics.

Summary: This pilot study examined the effect of low frequency sound vibration on acute stress response in university students. The results showed that the intervention had a significant improvement on heart rate variability, suggesting the potential of vibroacoustic therapy in stress management. Further research is needed to explore the specific effect of low frequency sound without additional music listening on stress response.

Summary: This study evaluates the cardiovascular effects of wearing a respirator against PM2.5 and aims to understand the mechanisms of cardiovascular responses triggered by PM2.5. Findings show that wearing true respirators leads to worse cardiovascular indicators compared to wearing sham respirators on less polluted days. However, the differences between the two groups are not significant on heavily polluted days.

Summary: Abnormalities in heart rate and its variability persist in patients with major depressive disorder throughout a 24-hour day, with the highest fluctuation observed during the night. Baseline heart rate levels have the potential to predict treatment response, but do not serve as state markers for depression in this study.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the effects of a Mindfulness Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP) intervention on heart rate variability (HRV), serum inflammatory markers, and self-assessed mental health. The results showed that participants who received MBCP reported a significant reduction in perceived stress and an increase in mindfulness compared to the control group. However, the intervention had no significant effect on postnatal depression, inflammatory serum markers, or HRV measures in this sub-study.

Summary: This study examined the reliability of the 3 m backward test (3MBWT) in fibromyalgia (FM) patients under both single and dual-task conditions. The results indicated that the 3MBWT is a reliable tool in both conditions when measured with a manual stopwatch or a Chronopic. It also showed concurrent validity with the Timed Up and Go test and was related to the impact of the disease.

Summary: This study compared the effects of single High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and combining HIIT with an incongruent Stroop task on mental and physical fatigue indicators. The results showed that combining the Stroop task with HIIT increased mental fatigue and perceived exertion, but did not affect external (speed) and internal (heart rate) factors. This suggests that mental fatigue can increase the subjective perception of physical exertion, but does not decrease the physical workload during HIIT for tennis players.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the concurrent validity between online evaluations (OEs) and face-to-face evaluations (IPEs) of a Senior Fitness Test and two balance tests in people with low back pain (LBP). The results indicated no significant differences between the two methods except in the 8-foot up-and-go test. Strong correlations were observed in all variables except for the arm-curl and 8-foot up-and-go tests, where moderate correlations were found.

Summary: This study analyzed the effects of a training program based on practice variability on the speed and accuracy of the tennis forehand approach to the net shot. The experimental group, which used wristband weights for training, showed a significant increase in accuracy, while the control group did not see any improvements in the tested variables. These results suggest that variability of training using wrist weights can be an effective option for improving forehand approach shot accuracy in recreational-level players.

Summary: This study evaluates the relationship between body composition, fitness, and nutritional status with health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in older adults, and describes the effects of a multi-component training (MCT) program and detraining on HRQoL. The findings show that healthier baseline values are associated with better HRQoL, and the MCT program improves HRQoL but detraining leads to a return to baseline level.

Summary: The COVID-19 confinement had significant impact on the physical condition of handball players, particularly in terms of shoulder rotator and range of motion. The study found that the 11-week detraining period imposed by the pandemic resulted in reduced peak torque, increased fatigue index, and decreased range of motion in the shoulder rotator. Furthermore, the ball release velocity during both standing and jump shots was significantly reduced. Strengthening and recovering the shoulder rotator and range of motion seems necessary to prevent shoulder injuries after a detraining period.
