The article surveys the first Cl-35 NQR results on detecting and characterizing noncovalent interactions in systems assembling [B10Cl10](2-) clusters via halogen atoms. A number of compounds of decachloro-closo-decaborates with alkali metal or organic cations as well as with silver(I), copper(II) and iron(II) complexes were studied using Cl-35 NQR and X-ray diffraction. The main interest of this survey is a capability of chlorine atoms to participate in noncovalent interactions with organic cations, ligand and solvent molecules without touching upon issues of synthesis. Whereas X-ray diffraction establishes the noncovalent interactions relying on the sum of vdW radii which serves as the basic and sometimes the only experimental criterion for identifying such interactions, the Cl-35 NQR technique registers subtle perturbations in electron density distribution on the chlorine site caused by secondary interactions Cl center dot center dot center dot X. They adequately split the Cl-35 NQR spectra thus selecting from the entire set of interatomic contacts those actually induced by noncovalent interactions.

Metal-Promoted Exopolyhedral Substitution of Terminal Hydrogen Atoms in theCloso-Decaborate Anion [B10H10]2-in the Presence of Copper(II): Formation of the Substituted Derivative [2-B10H9OH]2-

Elena A. Malinina, Svetlana E. Korolenko, Andrey P. Zhdanov, Varvara V. Avdeeva, Viktor I. Privalov, Nikolay T. Kuznetsov

Summary: The copper(II) complexation of [B10H10](2-) anion was studied in organic solvents in the presence of 2,2 '-bipyridyl (bipy). The reaction involved CuCl, bipy, and (Et3NH)[Ag[B10H10]] in DMF to form a copper(II) complex. Heating the resulting complex in DMSO led to the isolated monosubstituted derivative [2-B10H9OH](2-) in a 0.83:0.17 ratio. Analysis techniques included elemental analysis, IR, H-1 and (11)B NMR spectroscopy, as well as X-ray diffraction studies for the complexes.

Summary: A method has been developed for obtaining perchlorinated di-S,S-substituted derivatives of the closo-decaborate anion with various alkyl groups. The process involves alkylation of the anion with bromoalkanes followed by cluster chlorination with sulfuryl chloride in acetonitrile, resulting in complete replacement of hydrogen atoms with chlorine within 60 hours. The melting point of the salts strongly depends on the length of the hydrocarbon chain of the substituent R.

The purity of SnCl4 as monitored by 35Cl nuclear quadrupole resonance

Summary: Nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spectroscopy is used to control the comparative purity of SnCl4 samples during deep purification. The results show that at 77K, the samples have the same purity level, as impurities are frozen into a separate fraction without affecting the integrity of the crystal lattice. Additionally, relaxation measurements suggest that small amounts of paramagnetic impurity atoms (Fe and Cr) may be embedded into the crystal lattice, resulting in extremely long spin-spin relaxation time.

Summary: In this study, three silver cluster compounds with different silver environments were synthesized and investigated using X-ray diffraction analysis, X-ray phase analysis, and nuclear quadrupole resonance (35Cl NQR). The non-covalent interactions between chlorines and surrounding atoms were identified using 35Cl NQR spectroscopy. The results were compared with XRD results to understand the relationship between atomic nuclei contacts and attraction interactions. Different types of interactions were observed in different compounds.

The impact of the SnI2 purity on the formation of CsSnI3 perovskite modifications as monitored by 127I Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance

Eleonora A. Kravchenko, Andrei A. Gippius, Aleksei Tkachev, Maksim Mastryukov, Maria N. Brekhovskikh

Summary: The relative content of perovskite phase was estimated in two CsSnI3 samples using 127I NQR. Both samples contained the non-perovskite orthorhombic phase as an admixture. The high purity sample (99.999% purity) showed insignificant content of the non-perovskite phase, while the lower purity sample (99.900% purity) had a significant amount, potentially due to crystallization on impurities.

Summary: This article presents the experiments conducted with the KEDR detector at the e(+) e(-) collider VEPP-4M in the energy range of root s= 1.84-3.88 GeV. The cross section of e(+) e(-) annihilation to hadrons was measured at 22 points in this range, and narrow resonances were searched for below 3.1 GeV. The masses and widths of j/psi and psi(2s) mesons were measured with exceptional accuracy, and precision measurements were also performed for tau lepton and meson masses. The article also discusses the parameters of psi(3770) and highlights inconsistencies in the procedure used by the Particle Data Group for determining these parameters.
