Summary: The study compares four emotional exhaustion measures and finds that the 5-item EE scale exhibits better psychometric and convergent validity compared to the 9-item scale. This finding is significant for global wellbeing research as it enhances access and understanding of a well-being metric, while also reducing respondent burden. Additionally, the 5-item and 9-item scales show stronger convergent validity compared to the single item EE metrics.

Summary: This study assessed the practice of pediatric urolithiasis care among European Association of Urology (EAU) members and obtained insights from experts in the field. Results showed that computerized tomography was commonly used for imaging, but lacked gonadal protection during operations. Adult instruments were frequently used instead of pediatric instruments. Stone and metabolic analysis were not performed in all patients, despite their high risk for recurrence. Expert recommendations may guide clinicians towards best practice.

Summary: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common cause of hospitalization in infants under 60 days, but the optimal intravenous (IV) antibiotic therapy for this group is unknown. A retrospective review of confirmed UTI cases in infants receiving IV antibiotics at a referral center was conducted to determine the association between IV antibiotic therapy duration and treatment failure. The study found that treatment failure was uncommon and not associated with IV antibiotic duration.

Summary: This study aimed to use Lean methodologies to rationalize surgical trays in pediatric inguinoscrotal surgery and reduce instrument wastage, processing times, and overall costs. The rationalization led to a 34.7% reduction in tray size, a time-reduction of >2 minutes per case, and an increase in instrument utilization rate from 56% to 80%. Cost savings were projected at €5380.40 per annum. This rationalization can improve the efficiency and economy of hospitals without adverse effects on patient outcomes.
