Persistent white matter changes in recovered COVID-19 patients at the 1-year follow-up

Sihong Huang, Zhiguo Zhou, Danhui Yang, Wei Zhao, Mu Zeng, Xingzhi Xie, Yanyao Du, Yingjia Jiang, Xianglin Zhou, Wenhan Yang, Hu Guo, Hui Sun, Ping Liu, Jiyang Liu, Hong Luo, Jun Liu

Summary: The study revealed persistent white matter changes in recovered COVID-19 patients at 1-year follow-up, with slightly more abnormalities seen in patients who were admitted to the ICU. The duration of hospital stay may be a predictor for white matter changes at the 1-year follow-up.

Characteristics and Follow-Up of Organizing Pneumonia Associated with Haematological Malignancies

Huihui Zeng, Yiming Ma, Xue He, Shan Cai, Ping Chen, Yan Chen, Hong Luo

Summary: This study discusses the characteristics and prognosis of organizing pneumonia (OP) associated with haematological malignancies. The results show that haematological malignancies may be a cause of OP and that minimal invasive biopsy is an effective and safe method for diagnosis. Steroid treatment produces favorable outcomes.

Identification of a Novel OFD1 Variant in a Patient with Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia

Binyi Yang, Cheng Lei, Danhui Yang, Chenyang Lu, Yingjie Xu, Lin Wang, Ting Guo, Rongchun Wang, Hong Luo

Summary: This study reports a case of a 31-year-old male patient with typical symptoms of primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) and identifies a novel variant in OFD1 as the cause. Various examinations reveal abnormalities in the patient's respiratory cilia, while other OFD1-associated symptoms are not present.

Integrative analysis reveals the recurrent genetic etiologies in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

S. Guo, Y. Dong, C. Wang, Y. Jiang, R. Xiang, L. -L. Fan, H. Luo, L. Liu

Summary: This study improves the understanding of the molecular basis of IPF through the integration of whole-exome sequencing, bulk RNA sequencing, and single-cell RNA sequencing data. It identifies recurrent genomic and transcriptomic variations in IPF populations, suggesting their significant role in disease development and progression. These findings highlight the importance of an integrative approach in understanding the molecular mechanisms of IPF and identifying potential therapeutic targets.

Role of extracellular vesicles in lung diseases

Li Zhou, Hong Luo, Jae Woo Lee

Summary: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are anuclear particles composed of lipid bilayers that transmit biological signals or components to regulate the function of target cells, playing a crucial role in maintaining lung homeostasis and various respiratory diseases. EVs derived from mesenchymal stem cells have shown promising therapeutic effects in reducing and repairing lung injuries. Researchers have also explored methods to enhance EVs-mediated drug delivery for more targeted and beneficial effects.
