Summary: As many as 80% of internet users seek health information online, and the social determinants of health are closely linked to internet access and healthcare as a whole. Virtual communities on social media platforms are increasingly serving as a venue for seeking health information, with peers influencing health behavior. Utilizing social media as a mediator of health requires consideration of factors such as false content and privacy concerns.

Summary: Internet hospitals are rapidly developing in China. This study found that the current use of internet hospitals during outpatient visits did not significantly enhance the physician-patient relationship. Internet hospital users gave lower scores in various aspects of the relationship compared to non-users. The study emphasizes the importance of improving physicians' online communication skills and strengthening the level of trust between physicians and patients.

Summary: Physicians have an ethical obligation to establish a therapeutic alliance with their patients and should try to resolve conflicts through communication or mediation. If restoring the therapeutic relationship is not feasible, ending the patient-physician relationship may be the best option. This statement provides an ethical framework and evidence-based tools to manage patient-physician conflict and rebuild meaningful connections with patients.

Summary: This study compared patient global assessment (PtGA) and physician global assessment (PhGA) scores in patients with relapsing polychondritis (RP), finding discordance between the two assessments. The discordance is likely due to the high physical and psychological burden experienced by patients. Multifaceted treatment approaches are needed to address the burden of disease in RP from the patient perspective.

Summary: Physicians are expected to prioritize the patient's interests, which distinguishes medicine from other professions and has global consensus. Over the past five decades, the interaction between patients and physicians has shifted from a personal to a factual relationship, jeopardizing the prioritization of patient's interests. This article argues for maintaining a personal relationship in which physicians engage with patients in knowledge-based discussions and efforts, rather than simply complying with their wishes.

Summary: This study examined the ways in which Chinese patients share online health information with physicians and the subsequent impact on the physician-patient relationship. The results indicated that patients with lower communication apprehension tend to share information more directly with their physicians, which can positively affect their perceived reactions and satisfaction. However, eHealth literacy was not found to be associated with patients' sharing of online information.

Summary: The aim of this study was to assess the inter-rater agreement and predictive value of ClassIntra for postoperative complications in elective abdominal surgery. The study found that ClassIntra had an almost perfect inter-rater agreement and a higher grade of ClassIntra was associated with a higher incidence of postoperative complications. Intraoperative bleeding and adhesion-related injuries were the most common sources of grading discrepancies.

Summary: This study analyzed the type and origin of intraoperative adverse events (iAEs) and evaluated their relation to postoperative complications. The results showed that bleeding was the most common subcategory caused by surgery, while hypotension and organ injury were commonly caused by anesthesia. The study suggests that analyzing the type and origin of iAEs can provide targeted information for surgical and postoperative care.

Summary: Abdominal adhesions are difficult to diagnose and may be missed by standard imaging techniques. Cine-MRI, which records visceral sliding during breathing, has proven effective in detecting and mapping adhesions. However, patient movements can impact the accuracy of these images and there is no standardized algorithm to define high-quality images. This study developed a biomarker for patient movements and identified factors that influence movement during cine-MRI, such as age, sex, height, and the presence of a stoma. The biomarker closely correlated with qualitative assessments and could help improve the diagnostic quality of cine-MRI.
