This review compiled evidence on the neurological activities, mechanisms of action, and clinical properties of green tea and its related compounds, suggesting their potential as neuro-effective agents with antidepressant, anti-neurodegenerative, and neuroprotective effects. Further research, including standardized clinical trials and pharmacokinetic studies, is needed to safely introduce green tea as a beneficial medicinal food for neurological disorders.
Neurological disorders and their sequelae, as of the widespread and critical humans complications, affect the body's nervous systems, organ functions, and behaviors. According to WHO, neurological disorders are currently predicted to affect more than one billion people globally. It is well-established that complementary medicine is one of the high accepted interventions that could have been considered for the management of neurological ailments. The current review aimed to compile a frame from all the crucial data reporting the investigation on the conspicuous intervention of green tea (made of Camellia sinensis) and related lead compounds (especially l-theanine, epigallocatechin-3-gallate, epicatechin-3-gallate, epicatechin, and epigallocatechin) for their neurological activities, mechanisms of action, and clinical properties. According to the documents, green tea exhibits antidepressant, anti-neurodegenerative (e.g., anti-Parkinson and anti-Alzheimer), as well as neuroprotective effects. Chief among them, for offering novel work, it is worth focusing on several related assessments with great attention to more extensive standardized clinical trials, and subsequently more in-depth pharmacokinetic studies to safely introduce this beneficial medicinal food as a neuro-effective agent.

Summary: Drug conjugation with enzyme-sensitive peptides is an innovative smart delivery system for cancer therapy. This study designed two conjugates of doxorubicin and small peptides that are sensitive to Cathepsin B. The formation of nanoparticles with different numbers of drug peptide prodrugs and the use of metal-organic frameworks as nanocarriers were investigated. The study also examined the interactions between the prodrugs and different MOFs, as well as the impact of microfluidics on nanoparticle interactions. Molecular dynamic simulation was employed to analyze thermodynamic and conformational parameters. The results showed that ZIF exhibited the best and most stable interactions with the prodrugs.

Summary: Since the start of the pandemic, SARS-Cov2 has highlighted the socioeconomic and healthcare disparities at various levels. Long COVID, which affects many patients beyond the acute phase, poses a significant challenge. However, most studies on long COVID have focused on high-income countries, neglecting low and middle-income regions and vulnerable groups. Additionally, there is geographical heterogeneity in investigating Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC). Recognizing these health disparities is crucial for promoting global health equity.

Summary: This systematic scoping review indicates that the COVID-19 pandemic and H1N1 influenza epidemic are associated with adverse mental health outcomes among adolescents and youth in low- and middle-income countries. Vulnerable individuals may be at higher risk of developing mental health-related complications, calling for responsive interventions and further research. Geographically localized disease outbreaks such as Ebola, Zika, and H1N1 influenza have been understudied and require future investigation.

Artificial Intelligence Deep Exploration of Influential Parameters on Physicochemical Properties of Curcumin-Loaded Electrospun Nanofibers

Mohammad Khedri, Nima Beheshtizadeh, Mohammadreza Rostami, Ali Sufali, Sima Rezvantalab, Mohammad Dahri, Reza Maleki, Helder A. Santos, Mohammad-Ali Shahbazi

Summary: This study utilizes artificial intelligence methods to optimize the production of curcumin-loaded nanofibers. The results show that high-density polymers have a lower drug release rate but higher encapsulation efficiency. The optimal parameters for the production are found to be a molecular weight between 100 and 150 kDa, a curcumin concentration of 10-15 wt%, and a polymer density in the range of 1.2-1.5 g mL -1. Additionally, the optimal distance, flow rate, and voltage are also determined. These findings provide new insights for the future design and production of drug-loaded polymeric nanofibers with desirable properties and performances.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the acceptance rate and determinants of COVID-19 vaccination among healthcare workers in multiple centers. A cross-sectional survey with 4630 participants from 91 countries found an overall hesitancy rate of 37%. Factors such as perceived benefits and social norms were associated with acceptance, while concerns about vaccine safety/cost were tied to hesitancy. High Human Development Index (HDI) was strongly linked to vaccination acceptance.
