Although many long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified in muscle, some of their physiological functions and regulatory mechanisms remain elusive. Here we report the functional identification and characterization of a novel lncRNA 2310043L19Rik (lnc-231), which is highly expressed in muscle. The expression level of Inc-231 in skeletal muscle of young mice is higher than that in aged mice. Functional analysis showed that overexpression of lnc-231 restrained differentiation and promoted proliferation of myoblast, while inhibition of lnc-231 revealed completely opposite effects in vitro. RNA molecules of lnc-231 acted mechanistically as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNA) to target miR-125a-5p, whereas miR-125a-5p binds to the 3'-UTR of E2F3 mRNA to inhibit its function. Collectively, lncRNA 2310043L19Rik promotes proliferation and inhibits differentiation of myoblast cells by attenuating the function of miR-125a-5p.

Trillin inhibits myoblast differentiation via increasing autophagy

Weilong Dai, Ke Liu, Rongyang Li, Yan Cao, Ming Shen, Jingli Tao, Honglin Liu

Summary: This study investigated the effect and underlying mechanism of Trillin on myoblast differentiation using a myoblast differentiation model established with mice C2C12 cell line in vitro. The results showed that Trillin significantly inhibited C2C12 differentiation in a dose-dependent manner and increased autophagy. Mechanistically, the activity of AKT/mTOR declined during the inhibition of differentiation by Trillin.

Similarity Simulation on the Movement Characteristics of Surrounding Rock and Floor Stress Distribution for Large-Dip Coal Seam

Wenxiang Cao, Honglin Liu, Yinjian Hang, Hongzhi Wang, Guodong Li

Summary: This research focuses on how to safely mine in close multi coal seams, especially for large-dip coal seams with complex geological and mechanical conditions. The study found that the overburden strata deform asymmetrically around the coal pillar, leading to non-uniform stress distribution on the floor of the coal pillar and ribs. The results provide a theoretical foundation for a reasonable layout and support technique for roadways in deep zone mining.

Viperin deficiency promotes dendritic cell activation and function via NF-kappaB activation during Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection

Xinying Zhou, Hui Xu, Qianna Li, Qi Wang, Honglin Liu, Yingqi Huang, Yao Liang, Linmiao Lie, Zhenyu Han, Yaoxin Chen, Yulan Huang, Wenle Zhou, Qian Wen, Chaoying Zhou, Shengfeng Hu, Li Ma

Summary: Viperin plays a role in regulating the activation and function of dendritic cells during Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, and this effect is mediated through NF-kappa B p65 activation pathway. Viperin deficiency enhances the phagocytic activity and clearance ability of dendritic cells against Mtb, and also enhances the interaction between dendritic cells and T cells.
