Summary: With the increase in layer thickness, the tensile strength of printed specimens decreased, but the raster angle did not have a significant effect on the properties. In samples containing 3% MWCNT, nanoparticles were reasonably dispersed throughout the matrix.

Summary: Nanocomposites of PMMA and EVA with varying MWCNT content were prepared, with optimal mechanical properties achieved at 5 wt% MWCNT and significant increase in electrical conductivity at 2.5 wt% MWCNT. Rheological characterization showed an increase in normalized relaxation time up to 5 wt% nanofiller, followed by stability at higher MWCNT amounts.

Summary: This experimental study aimed to enhance the mechanical and thermal properties of BN nanosheet-reinforced high-density polyethylene by functionalizing its interface. Chemical modification of BN nanosheets with silane functional groups improved the load transfer at the interface and led to significant improvements in the tensile and flexure strength of the nanocomposites. The type of interfacial bonding, BN weight percent, and operating temperature also affected the thermal conductivity of the nanocomposites.

Summary: This study investigated the rheological and electrical properties of composite materials filled with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The formation of physical gel and rheological percolation threshold were found to occur at 1 wt% MWCNTs concentration. The electrical conductivity of the nanocomposites increased with increasing MWCNTs loading.

Summary: The study elaborated PEEK/PES blends with partial miscibility by melt mixing with phenolphthalein, which was confirmed by DSC and DMTA analysis. Phenolphthalein acted as a compatibilizer and plasticizer for the blends, resulting in a softened PEEK phase and improved interfacial adhesion with PES. Additionally, the storage modulus in the glassy region of the blends remained similar to pure PEEK due to the aromatic moieties in phenolphthalein.

Summary: A major challenge in the industrialization of polymer-clay nanocomposites at high processing temperatures is the thermal degradation of the matrix induced by the commercial organoclays. This work investigated the use of a styrene-acrylic multi-functional oligomeric chain extender to address the thermal degradation of PET nanocomposites and improve their microstructure. The introduction of the chain extender significantly improved the morphology of the nanocomposites containing Nanomer particles and enhanced their resistance to degradation.

Summary: The study demonstrates the effectiveness of high-aspect ratio electrochemically exfoliated graphene (EEG) as a filler in high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Mechanical properties improved for all HDPE/EEG nanocomposite samples, with stronger reinforcement at 0.2 wt% loading. Improved mechanical response with higher melt flow indices (MFI) nanocomposites is likely due to enhanced dispersion.

Summary: This paper investigates the role of self-propulsion in the rheological response of a dense colloidal suspension through particle-resolved Brownian dynamics simulations. It is found that self-propulsion lowers the stress barrier needed to be overcome during the disordering transition of the suspension. The rheological response of the active sheared system shows a transition from shear-thinning to shear-thickening behavior with increasing self-propulsion, attributed to clustering induced by motility.

Summary: The molecular weight of poly(D-lactide) (PDLA) and poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) is important for the performance of their blends. In this study, the crystallization and rheological properties of asymmetric PDLA/PLLA blends were studied considering the molecular weight of PDLA. The results showed that an optimal molecular weight of PDLA led to the formation of stereocomplex (SC) crystals and improved viscosity and tensile properties of the blend.

Summary: This paper explores the viscoelastic behavior during crystallization and melting of semicrystalline polymers, aiming to propose a preliminary model for the impact of crystallization and melting on the storage and loss moduli. The experimental results suggest that relying solely on the crystalline fraction is insufficient to model the rheology, while considering the microstructure at the spherulitic level could be more helpful. Additionally, the experiments enhance our understanding of the correlations between crystallization kinetics and its mechanical effects.

Summary: The morphology and rheological properties of poly(lactic acid) and poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) blends were studied in the presence of cellulose nanocrystals, with the CNCs being highly dispersed after solution casting but agglomerating after melt mixing. This led to a decrease in complex viscosity and storage modulus of the nanocomposites, and prevented droplet coalescence in the blend nanocomposites under shearing at 0.1 s(-1).

Summary: The correlation between the dispersion quality of PEG-grafted silica nanoparticles and the crystallization ability of PEO nanocomposites was systematically investigated, revealing that high sigma and low P/N conditions can increase the nucleation rate of PEO. This study highlights the importance of nanoparticle dispersion and grafting characteristics in influencing the crystallization behavior of polymer nanocomposites, leading to novel and unexpected results.

Summary: Nanoparticle-induced viscosity reduction in segmented block copolymer-based nanocomposites was studied in this research. At low C-60 content, an anomalous reduction in terminal shear viscosity was observed for microphase-mixed PUs, while higher C-60 content and microphase-separated NPUs showed higher values. Slippage at polymer/C-60 interfaces was suggested as a possible mechanism behind the viscosity reduction.
