Summary: We report a case of catheter-associated bloodstream infection by C. gottingense in a 13-year-old immunocompromised child with febrile neutropenia induced for osteosarcoma. The species was identified using Sanger sequencing and phylogenetic analysis. The strain was susceptible to amoxicillin and the patient was treated with piperacillin/tazobactam initially and then switched to oral amoxicillin. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rDNA did not predict the clinical outcome.

Summary: A novel Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated GHJ8(T), was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of Ulmus pumila L., Shanxi Province, China. The strain showed certain adaptations to environmental stress and had distinct genotypic and phenotypic properties compared to recognized species of the genus Luteolibacter. Based on its characteristics and phylogenetic analysis, the strain GHJ8(T) represents a new species, named Luteolibacter rhizosphaerae sp. nov. with GHJ8(T) as the type strain.

Summary: This study conducted phenotypic and genomic analyses of a freshwater alphaproteobacterial lineage called 'Candidatus Phycosocius' and discovered a new species called 'Ca. Phycosocius spiralis'. Phylogenomic analyses revealed that the CaP clade is a deeply branching lineage in the Caulobacterales. Pangenome analyses identified characteristic features of the CaP clade, such as aerobic anoxygenic photosynthesis and essential vitamin B auxotrophy. The study also suggested that horizontal transfers of quorum sensing genes and interactions with specific algal partners may drive CaP clade diversification.
