Summary: In this study, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) produced by Pediococcus acidilactici were successfully purified using silica-decorated Fe3O4 nanoparticles (SMNPs) for controlling Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris. The AMP binding to the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles was confirmed by FT-IR, and the purification process showed good antimicrobial activity under different pH and temperature conditions. The proposed one-step process for the purification of antibacterial peptides using SMNPs is convenient and effective, suggesting potential applications in purifying other peptides.

Summary: This study reports the radiolabeling of thiol-containing substrates through Pd-catalyzed S-arylation using 2-[F-18]fluoro-5-iodopyridine, which is easily accessible through a minimalist radiofluorination method. The practicality of this method was confirmed through the preparation of a novel PSMA-specific PET-tracer and the labeling of various compounds.

Summary: GPR44 has been found to play a significant role in inflammation-related diseases, but its precise mechanism is still unclear. This study successfully developed [F-18]TM-30089 as a radiotracer for GPR44 and demonstrated its promising targeting ability. This may contribute to the understanding of GPR44's mechanism and monitoring of therapeutic progress.

Summary: A simple strategy with additional KF in the synthesis gel was developed to fabricate mesoporous KL zeolites with tunable morphology, hierarchical structure and catalytic selectivity. The morphology of the resultant KL zeolites changed by modulating the molar ratio of KF/Al2O3, and the introduction of mesopores greatly improved the selectivity of bulk products in the alkylation between phenol with tert-butyl alcohol.

Summary: A rapid one-step synthesis of alpha-ketoacetals was achieved via electrophilic etherification, obtaining different yields of products using specific substrates and peroxyacetals. The method is applicable for C-O bond formation at tertiary carbons, with the alpha-OCH3 group playing a critical role in ensuring product formation.

Summary: This study explores the possibility of 3D printing polymer forms with a ferroelectric crystal structure in a one-step process, utilizing a specific copolymer as filament and a commercial 3D printer for printing. Some interesting results were obtained, including the retention of ferroelectric properties and an increase in crystallinity after annealing.

Summary: This article introduces the method of measuring bone metabolic flux (K-i) using [F-18] sodium fluoride ([F-18]NaF) positron emission tomography (PET) scans, and proposes a simplified method that estimates K-i values from static scans and venous blood samples. By reviewing different methods of measuring arterial input functions (AIF), a non-invasive method for studying bone metabolism without arterial blood sampling is provided, which shortens scan times, simplifies procedures, and reduces costs.

Summary: This study identified two immunogenic peptides from Bartonella bacilliformis, Pap31-8 and SCS-alpha-12, with the potential to differentiate between different Bartonella species. These peptides were found to be highly immunogenic and could be useful for developing serologic tools for diagnosing Carrion's disease.

Summary: Incorporation of silicon fluoride acceptor (SiFA) moieties into various molecules has enhanced the generation of F-18 radiopharmaceuticals for medical imaging. The efficient isotopic exchange radiofluorination process, along with the enhanced in vivo stability of [F-18]SiFA, makes it a suitable strategy for fluorine-18 incorporation. This review emphasizes the clinical applicability of [F-18]SiFA-labeled compounds and discusses significant radiotracers currently in clinical use.
