MgO-templated carbon having an average pore diameter of 38 nm was used as a scaffold for a glucose oxidase-hydrogel consisting of an Os-complex-tethered polymer. The glucose oxidation current density of the electrode was 60 mA cm(-2) at a loading of 1000 mu g cm(-2) at 37 degrees C.
