Summary: This study empirically examines the relationship between environmental regulation and green development efficiency (GDE) by investigating the competition behavior of local governments in China. The findings suggest that fiscal spending competition increases GDE, while tax and capital attraction competition have the opposite effect. Furthermore, the study reveals that inter-governmental competition between local governments leads to instability in the strategic choices between economic catch-up and environmental protection, resulting in fluctuations and losses in GDE. The impact of government competition and environmental regulation on GDE is found to be greater in the eastern and developed regions of China.

Summary: This study investigates the patterns of tourism environmental efficiency in China from the perspective of spatiotemporal interactions. The results show that there is a dynamic convergence trend of tourism environmental efficiency in China, with significant spatial clustering observed. The study also reveals that tourism environmental efficiency exhibits certain transfer inertia and strong spatial dependence. The driving patterns of spatiotemporal leaps in tourism environmental efficiency differ among regions. The government should consider different driving factors and implement differentiated environmental tourism measures to promote inter-regional synergy.

Summary: This study measures the green energy efficiency and uses the spatial Durbin model to examine the impact of environmental regulation on green energy efficiency in China. The results show that China's green energy efficiency is low and its growth is mainly driven by technological progress. The eastern region has the highest efficiency while the central region has the lowest. Additionally, environmental regulation can improve green energy efficiency locally but inhibit it in adjacent provinces.

Summary: There is a pressing need to implement renewable energy sources fully for green energy transitions and environmental pollution control. This study analyzes the relationship between green economic growth, green financing, and green energy advancement in China from 2010 to 2020 using a benchmark estimation model. Researchers have found unequal and mediating influence connections in the context of renewable energy. Green economic expansion and green finance are significantly related to renewable energy but have diverse impacts on different types of renewable technology and regions. Green technological advancement effectively promotes green productivity expansion and green energy, with partially mediated investment impacts. This study contributes to the development of practical initiatives for strengthening the green energy sector and facilitating sustainable growth.

Summary: This paper examines the impact of urban environmental legislation on green total factor energy efficiency (GTFEE) by analyzing the unique perspective of local environmental regulations in Chinese prefecture-level cities from 2000 to 2018. The results indicate that implementing environmental legislation significantly improves local GTFEE, with comprehensive protection regulations contributing more to energy efficiency improvements compared to pollution prevention regulations. The study suggests that environmental legislation can guide urban green transition through industrial upgrading and technological innovation, and regulations with higher regulatory effectiveness have a greater potential for energy saving. Additionally, the impact of environmental legislation on improving GTFEE is more significant in cities in non-old industrial bases, with less frequent turnover of officials, and in central and western regions in China.

Summary: Chinese consumers are sensitive to gasoline prices, but the sensitivity decreases with continuous price rises. Personal perceptions have a significant effect on consumer behavior and explain the queuing to refuel actions. Gasoline price rises should be no more than 20% over the short term to ensure consumer market stability. Vehicle purchasing behaviors are less sensitive to gasoline prices compared to vehicle using behaviors.
