The aim of this paper is to assess the effect of liming and low doses of municipal sewage sludge (5%, 10%, 15% of the soil mass) on lead, chromium and nickel speciation in soil. The 420-day experiment was carried out in laboratory conditions. In all the samples lead, chromium and nickel concentration was determined with the ICP-AES method, while the content of those metals in different fractions was measured with the seven-step Zeien and Brummer method, on the 30th and 420th days of the experiment. Sewage sludge doses significantly diversified lead, chromium and nickel amounts in the soil. The highest dose of sludge caused a significant increase, compared to the control, in the content of those metals. In the sludge the dominant forms of metals tested in the experiment were lead and chromium bound to organic matter (F4) as well as nickel bound to amorphous iron oxides (F5). Liming decreased the mobility of the metals in the soil.

The Effect of Tytanit Foliar Application and Different Nitrogen on Fibre Fraction Content and the Feed Value of Festulolium braunii

Elzbieta Malinowska, Kazimierz Jankowski

Summary: The study aimed to determine the effect of Tytanit foliar application on Festulolium braunii fiber fractions, nutritional value, and feed intake, comparing it with nitrogen. Results showed that reducing traditional nitrogen fertilizers and using Tytanit instead can improve forage quality. Higher Tytanit doses led to increased NDF and ADF content, but decreased RFV, ADL, and DMI for Festulolium braunii.

Summary: This study presents the results of research on the Ba, Li and Ti content in six species of herbs. It was found that corn mint had the greatest accumulation potential of the chemical elements. However, no excessive content of Ba, Li and Ti was found in the herbs growing at different locations.

Summary: The aim of this experiment was to determine the effects of Tytanit and mineral nitrogen on the cellulose and hemicellulose content as well as the digestibility of Festulolium braunii. The results showed that a 1% concentration of Tytanit increased cellulose content and decreased hemicellulose content, lignification degree, dry matter digestibility, and total digestible nutrient content.

Summary: The aim of this experiment was to assess the effects of mineral and mushroom substrate nitrogen on the yield and selected parameters of Festulolium braunii. The results showed that the interaction between mushroom substrate nitrogen and mineral nitrogen had positive effects on forage parameters compared to mineral nitrogen applied alone.

Changes in Selected Forage Parameters of Meadow Timothy (Phleum pratense L.) Biomass and in the Soil as a Response to Slurry Interaction with Soil Conditioners

Summary: The aim of the research was to evaluate the impact of slurry and soil conditioners on the yield and selected parameters of Phleum pratense, as well as on soil nutrients. The study also aimed to determine whether the combined application of slurry and soil conditioners would lead to increased accumulation of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in the soil compared to the application of slurry alone or with NPK fertilizers. The results showed that the interaction of slurry with Humus Active or Rosahumus significantly increased the biomass of Phleum pratense, and the interaction with Rosahumus also increased its crude fiber content.

The Effects of Various Organic Materials on Dactylis glomerata Yield and Content of Selected Macroelements

Elzbieta Malinowska, Beata Wisniewska-Kadzajan, Urszula Ostaszewska, Tomasz Horaczek

Summary: The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the impact of different organic materials on the yield of Dactylis glomerata, the content of selected macroelements (K, Ca, and Mg), and the ratios of K:Ca, K:Mg, and K:(Ca + Mg). Dactylis glomerata is a common forage plant in Poland due to its rapid growth, resistance to various conditions, and adaptability to meadows, pastures, and grasslands. A three-year pot experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, involving the application of organic materials (chicken manure, mushroom substrate, and rye straw) mixed with soil before the experiment. The results showed that the use of mineral and organic fertilizers significantly increased the yield of Dactylis glomerata, with the highest biomass yield observed in the groups treated with manure, straw, and mineral fertilizers, as well as mushroom substrate, rye straw, and mineral fertilizers.
