Summary: The study aimed to improve the biopharmaceutical properties of norfloxacin, a water-insoluble antibiotic, by synthesizing co-crystals using three co-formers: nicotinamide, cinnamic acid, and sorbic acid. The newly prepared co-crystals were characterized using analytical techniques, and their crystal structures were determined using Material studio Software. The co-crystals showed improved solubility (8 to 3-fold), dissolution (6 to 2-fold), and peak plasma concentration (2 to 1.5-fold higher).

Summary: The present study investigated the interaction of new Schiff base-platinum complexes with human serum albumin and their toxicity effects on cancer cell lines. Fluorescence and circular dichroism spectroscopy revealed the quenching mechanisms and structural changes of the albumin caused by the complexes. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations identified the main interactions between the complexes and albumin. The IC50 values of the complexes on the cancer cell lines demonstrated their anti-cancer activities.

Summary: This study predicted new ciprofloxacin derivatives by using quantum chemical, molecular docking studies and pharmacokinetic properties. The compounds demonstrated good pharmacokinetic profiles. The results of the docking studies showed that one compound exhibited great inhibitory behavior against gram-positive bacteria, another compound showed the best inhibition against gram-negative bacteria, and one compound was a good inhibitor for β-lactamase. Molecular dynamics simulations confirmed the stability of these compounds in the protein binding pocket.
