Summary: Early HCC diagnosis is challenging, especially for AFP-negative cases. miRNA profiles may serve as potential molecular markers for HCC. This study aimed to evaluate the expression levels of four miRNAs (hsa-miR-21-5p, hsa-miR-155-5p, hsa-miR-192-5p, and hsa-miR-199a-5p) as biomarkers for HCC in CHCV patients with liver cirrhosis, particularly AFP-negative HCC cases.

Summary: This study evaluated the role of hsa-miRNA-21-5p in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients. The expression of hsa-miRNA-21-5p was found to increase with NAFLD severity and was associated with hepatic lipotoxicity. Inhibition of hsa-miRNA-21-5p was shown to prevent the progression of NAFLD to NASH and HCC.

Summary: This study demonstrated that TUG1 is upregulated in tumor tissues and HCC cells, while miR-29a is significantly downregulated in liver cancer tissues. TUG1 competitively binds to miR-29a to regulate IFITM3, promoting the development of liver cancer. Downregulation of TUG1 significantly inhibits the migration, invasion, and proliferation of liver cancer cells, highlighting its potential as a key gene for improving the prognosis of HCC patients.

Summary: CircC16orf62 acts as an oncogene in HCC progression, promoting cancer development through the miR-138-5p/PTK2/Akt pathway. It functions as a molecular sponge for miR-138-5p and a competitive endogenous RNA for PTK2, activating the AKT/mTOR pathway.

Summary: This study identifies ZC3H13 as a potential tumor suppressor gene in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and reveals the miR-362-3p/miR-425-5p-ZC3H13 axis as a regulatory pathway. The expression of ZC3H13 is closely associated with the prognosis and tumor immune infiltration in HCC.

Summary: Heart failure (HF) is a chronic disease characterized by inadequate blood and oxygen supply to peripheral tissues. This study investigated the mechanism of HF using H2O2-treated AC16 cells as a cellular model. The results showed that H2O2 stimulation increased the expression of ETS2, TUG1, and ATG7, while decreasing the expression of miR-129-5p. H2O2 stimulation also induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis and autophagy, which could be reversed by manipulating the ETS2/TUG1/miR-129-5p/ATG7 axis. Overall, these findings suggest that targeting this axis may provide new therapeutic options for treating HF.

Summary: Through RNA-Seq analysis, the study identified TPRG1-AS1 as a potential driver noncoding RNA that promotes heterogeneous progression of liver cancer. TPRG1-AS1 induces tumor suppressor RBM24, activating apoptotic tumor cell death to suppress tumor growth, and acts as a ceRNA interfering with the binding of miR-4691-5p and miR-3659 to RBM24.

Summary: Atherosclerosis (AS) is a major cause of cardiovascular disorder. MiR-216b-5p improves the functions of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) affected by ox-LDL by inhibiting IGF2, and exerts protective effects to block the development of AS.

Summary: The study revealed that TUG1 was upregulated and miR-204-5p was downregulated in hepatoblastoma tissues and cells. TUG1 inhibited the suppressive effect of miR-204-5p on the JAK2/STAT3 pathway, thereby promoting angiogenesis in hepatoblastoma cells. These findings suggest novel targets for hepatoblastoma treatment.

Summary: The study demonstrates that LINC01963 is overexpressed in docetaxel-resistant prostate cancer cells and its silencing can enhance chemosensitivity, inhibit tumorigenicity and lung metastasis. LINC01963 exerts its effect by competitively binding to miR-216b-5p and reducing TrkB protein levels. These findings suggest that LINC01963 could be a potential therapeutic target for prostate cancer patients with docetaxel resistance.
