Summary: This study analyzed trends in cholesterol screening, lipid levels, and lipid management therapies in US adults over the past 20 years. The results showed an increase in cholesterol screening rates and a decrease in levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. There was a modest increase in statin use and low uptake of nonstatin therapy.

Summary: This paper proposes a decision-making method based on probabilistic linguistic preference relation (PLPR) and introduces an adjustment mechanism using attitudes and emotions to handle unknown information and improve consistency. By defining different concepts and distance measures, this method can more accurately reflect the decision-maker's preference information.

Summary: Among patients recently assessed for LCS, the quality of decision-making is highly variable, with patients valuing early cancer detection over concerns about harms. Patients were more likely to receive information on the benefits of LCS than on the risks, and one-third experienced some degree of decisional conflict. However, most patients felt they were adequately involved in the screening decision-making process.

Summary: The study found that while the majority of participants (56%) preferred an autonomous role, only 35% reported having high SDM experiences. Younger age and non-clozapine users were significantly associated with high SDM, while lower insight and being on oral antipsychotic drugs only were significantly associated with autonomous role preference.

Summary: This study developed an automated decision aid for patient-centric treatment decision-making, based on decision analysis, preference thresholds, and value elicitations to maximize the compatibility between a patient's treatment expectations and outcomes. The web-based decision aid allows patients to evaluate treatment options based on their preferences and values, potentially influencing treatment compliance, side effects tolerance, and decision satisfaction. The model enables personalized medicine practice and can be expanded to include additional inputs such as genomics and alternative therapies.

Summary: The study found that underserved patients with depression prefer to have a high level of shared decision making, and desire to play an active role in their treatment. Patients prefer collaborating with doctors during the information sharing process, but also want control over the final decisional outcome. Trust between patients and providers is critical for effective shared decision making.

Summary: The study aimed to summarize the current knowledge of shared decision making (SDM) in patients with intact abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) and identify areas where further evidence is needed. The results showed that most patients with AAA desire SDM, but it is not commonly practiced. Patients with AAA do not receive adequate information for SDM, although the use of tailored decision support tools (DSTs) can improve patient knowledge and facilitate SDM.

Summary: Significant drug interactions can lead to hospitalizations, mortality, and healthcare costs, but can be prevented with a basic understanding of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. This article provides an overview of important drug interactions for commonly used medications in preventive cardiology, with a focus on clinically significant interactions involving statins.

Summary: New entropy functions based on an agent's perceived uncertainty are formulated in this paper, highlighting the role of the decision-maker's attitude. The study introduces new attitude-based variants of probabilistic entropies and extends existing fuzzy entropies to consider the agent's specific attitude. The proposed entropy functions are shown to have wide applicability in multi criteria decision making.

Summary: This study explored the key factors for shared decision-making (SDM) and the quality improvement of nursing decisions in the orthopaedic clinical environment using consistent fuzzy preference relations (CFPRs) and importance-performance analysis (IPA) methods. The results highlighted the importance of informing patients or their families about the need for nursing care decisions, explaining the advantages and disadvantages of care options, and informing them about the availability of different care options. Additionally, asking patients or their families about their care preferences was identified as a key factor for improving orthopaedic clinical nursing.
