Summary: Sustainability has gained more attention after the launch of the sustainable development goals in 2015 and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Supply chain management has become a crucial aspect for businesses to achieve sustainability. In our study, we propose a novel sequence of intangible supply chain resources that can enhance the impact of green supply chain management practices on business performance. Through data analysis of 318 individuals in the UK manufacturing sector, we found a positive direct association between green supply chain management practices and performance, with supply chain visibility and robustness playing a sequential mediational role.

Summary: This study explores the relationships between blockchain adoption barriers in containerized international trade and identifies key stakeholders for blockchain adoption. The most impactful barriers include lack of support from influential stakeholders, lack of understanding about blockchain, and absence of government regulations. Through stakeholder mapping analysis, container lines, ports, beneficial cargo owners, freight forwarders/third party logistics, and customs authorities are identified as high salient stakeholders in this context.

Summary: In global supply chains, 3PL services play a crucial role in assisting supply chain agents with distribution tasks, allowing them to focus on product development and manufacturing. However, current supply chains face inadequacies that impact the effectiveness of 3PL, leading to the need for digital transformation. Digitization improves supply chain performance through enhanced information sharing and visibility, but raises challenges in cybersecurity and data quality. Blockchain technology offers solutions with its high security and distribution features. This paper examines the challenges and potential of using blockchain in 3PL, based on literature and interviews with innovation/project managers from established logistics companies.

Summary: Industry 4.0, the integration of intelligent and digital technologies, has gained much attention in operations management. However, there is limited empirical research on the impact of Industry 4.0 adoption on supply chain resilience. This study examines the effects of 16 Industry 4.0 technologies and IT advancement on supply chain resilience through the mediating roles of supply chain capabilities. The findings reveal a positive relationship between Industry 4.0 adoption and IT advancement, and a significant mediating effect of supply chain collaboration and visibility on the impacts of Industry 4.0 and IT advancement on supply chain resilience.

Summary: The study found that supply chain traceability and information sharing with customers positively influence visibility. Visibility, in turn, has a positive impact on the adoption of sustainable practices and velocity, ultimately affecting supply chain performance. However, information sharing with customers does not significantly influence performance, and information sharing with suppliers does not have a significant relationship with visibility.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has put the supply chains for medically critical items and common household goods to the test, particularly in terms of severe shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilators in the United States. These shortages have revealed vulnerabilities in the supply chains of essential products during times of crisis, leading to public pressure on corporations to reconsider their supply chains. Drawing from lessons learned during the pandemic, this paper proposes a research agenda and opportunities to develop responsive supply chains to combat future pandemics and major public health emergencies.

Summary: This study investigates the adoption process of supply chain technologies, revealing that users often have inflated expectations followed by disappointment at the early stages. Affordance theory is used to explain managers' perception of emerging technologies. The findings suggest that the characteristics of the technology do not inform user expectations initially, which may explain the discrepancy between characteristics and expectations in the Gartner Hype Cycle.

Summary: This study examines the causal effects of surge pricing on driver earnings and labor supply in the ride-sharing industry. The findings show that surge pricing leads to an increase in drivers' weekly revenue, but a decrease in their daily revenue. Additionally, surge pricing attracts more part-time drivers into the market and displaces full-time drivers.

Summary: To improve the availability and accessibility of treatments for rare diseases, governments have introduced subsidy programs, exogenous pricing, and outcome-based payment schemes. Research shows that government subsidies are crucial for attracting new drug development for rare diseases; the exogenous pricing scheme can improve patient welfare but reduces the manufacturer's profit.

Summary: The Covid-19 pandemic and other disruptions have led to criticisms against just-in-time (JIT) practices for operational failures, resulting in calls to adopt just-in-case approach by holding more inventory. The academic community is divided with some arguing that JIT is not resilient while others believe it can still deliver superior performance even during disruptions. Inspired by this debate, the article discusses misconceptions about JIT and presents ways to adapt it for turbulent environments, suggesting that selecting appropriate JIT supply chain segments during disruptions can improve supply chain performance.

Summary: We propose a general modular approach to support decision-makers' response in the early stages of a pandemic with resource expansion. The approach uses stochastic epidemic modeling, capacity load modeling, and optimization modeling to allocate resources based on different values of investment. We demonstrate this approach with the onset of the first and second Covid-19 waves in three Italian regions, using available data at that time.

Summary: This study proposes an approach to rebuilding supply chains for resilience against systemwide disruptions. The authors focus on innovation in forecasting, supply chain risk management, and product design to enhance supply chain resilience. The study finds that all three areas have evolved in response to the challenges caused by the pandemic, including the shift from statistical forecasting to human-augmented forecasting with visual analytics, the transition from enterprise to supply chain risk management, and the shift from design-for-manufacturability to design-for-adaptability. These approaches must work together to build a resilient supply chain.

Summary: When determining store locations, competing retailers need to consider customers' store choices. Incumbent retailers estimate customer attraction parameters using historical data, while new entrants can observe the location structure of incumbents to estimate these parameters. We propose an inverse optimization approach to help new entrants improve their profits by identifying parameter combinations that lead to observed equilibrium solutions.
