A facile method is designed to synthesize CeO2 nanoparticles embedded one dimensional N doped carbon matrix by the electrospinning and calcination process. The electrochemical tests reveal that the CeO2@NC composite delivers excellent electrochemical performance with good cycling stability and rate capability. CeO2@NC composite exhibits a high reversible capacity of 724.8 mAh g(-1) after 100 cycles at a current density of 100 mA g(-1), owing to that the one dimensional N doped carbon matrix can effectively improve the electron conductivity of composite and accelerate the ion transfer with short diffusion length. This work can be extended to construct one dimensional other metal oxides/carbon composite and applied in a new generation of anode materials.
