Summary: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been recently found to play a key role in various types of cancer. In this study, we identified a lncRNA LINC01094 that is associated with the metastasis of gastric cancer (GC) through next-generation sequencing. High expression of LINC01094 is linked to advanced T and N stages and poor prognosis in GC patients. We demonstrated that LINC01094 promotes the proliferation and metastasis of GC both in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, we discovered that LINC01094 interacts with AZGP1, leading to downregulation of PTEN expression and activation of the AKT pathway.

Summary: Growing evidence suggests that LINC00659, a newly identified long noncoding RNA, plays a critical role in gastric cancer. Upregulation of LINC00659 is associated with tumor progression, lymphatic metastasis, and poorer prognosis. It functions as a competing endogenous RNA for miR-370, leading to the upregulation of its target gene AQP3. This study provides insights into the pathogenesis of gastric cancer and may contribute to the identification of potential therapeutic targets.

Summary: E2F1 induces the expression of lncRNA EMSLR in lung adenocarcinoma and lung squamous cell carcinoma, and it is involved in regulating cell proliferation and differentiation signaling pathways. EMSLR functions by repressing the promoter activity of LncPRESS1, and C-MYC plays a role in the regulation network of EMSLR and LncPRESS1.

Summary: The study demonstrated that SNHG16 expression is significantly increased in breast cancer tissues and cells, promoting migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of breast cancer cells through extracellular vesicles (EVs). SNHG16 was shown to regulate PPAPDC1A expression by sponging miR-892b, facilitating the progression of breast cancer. Additionally, enhanced miR-892b expression partially mitigated the effects of SNHG16 or EVs on breast cancer cell migration, invasion, and EMT.

Summary: The study assessed the prognostic factors for patients with prostate sarcomas and found that negative distant metastasis and radical tumor resection were significantly associated with better overall survival. Age, tumor size, symptom duration, and chemo/radiotherapy were not significantly related to survival. There were differences in treatment regimens between Chinese and US patients, with a higher rate of radical surgery in the US cohort leading to better survival outcomes.

Summary: This review article discusses the epidemiology, clinical features, diagnosis, and therapy of different types of cutaneous sarcomas. Cutaneous sarcomas have a negative impact on quality of life and histological evaluation is crucial for diagnosis. Complete surgical removal is the main treatment option and the prognosis for cutaneous sarcomas is generally favorable. Patients should be treated at specialized centers.

Summary: LINC00888 is overexpressed in laryngeal cancer and is associated with poor clinical outcomes. It functions as a competing endogenous RNA to regulate the miR-378g/TFRC axis, promoting the growth and mobility of laryngeal cancer cells. Targeting the LINC00888/miR-378g/TFRC pathway may offer a potential therapeutic strategy for laryngeal cancer.

Summary: This study analyzed the role of C-reactive protein (CRP) as a prognostic factor in Ewing's sarcoma. The results showed that serum CRP levels were significantly different in patients with a poorer prognosis and in patients who presented distant metastasis, indicating it as a sensitive prognostic risk factor in Ewing's sarcoma cases.

Summary: This study explored the oncological and functional outcomes of limb salvage surgery for primary malignant bone tumors in the forearm, finding that the incidence of radial malignant tumors is higher than that of ulnar lesions. Unplanned excisions, ulnar tumors, proximal forearm tumors, and inadequate surgical margins are risk factors for local recurrence, while distant metastasis is an independent poor prognostic factor.

Summary: The study found that the expression levels of BUB1, BUB1B, and BUB3 were higher in sarcoma samples and cell lines compared to normal controls. Survival analysis indicated that higher expression levels of BUB1, BUB1B, and BUB3 were associated with lower overall and disease-free survival in sarcoma patients. These findings suggest that BUB1, BUB1B, and BUB3 could be potential treatment targets and new biomarkers for prognosis in sarcoma patients.

Summary: This study investigated the regulatory role of DNMT3A/miR-149/NOTCH1/Hedgehog axis in the development of osteosarcoma. The results showed that DNMT3A promoted methylation modification of miR-149, leading to decreased miR-149 expression and increased NOTCH1 expression, which in turn exacerbated the activation of the Hedgehog signaling pathway and the progression of osteosarcoma.
