Summary: This article reports that LINC00525, a hypoxia-responsive lncRNA, is essential for hypoxia-enhanced glycolysis in colorectal cancer cells. It was found that LINC00525 promotes UBE2Q1 expression by binding miR-338-3p, leading to the activation of HIF-1α and enhanced glycolysis under hypoxic conditions.

Summary: The study revealed that PGC1 alpha is down-regulated in HCC, and its low expression is associated with poor prognosis, vascular invasion, and larger tumor size. PGC1 alpha inhibits HCC metastasis by regulating the WNT/beta-catenin/PDK1 axis.

Summary: Hundreds of circRNAs have been identified as key regulators in biological processes, but little is known about their role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study investigated the function and molecular mechanisms of circ_0124208 in HCC. The results showed that circ_0124208 was upregulated in HCC tissues and cells, and its silencing inhibited cell proliferation and migration while promoting apoptosis. Further experiments revealed that circ_0124208 sponged miR-338-3p and reduced its expression, leading to the inhibition of laminin subunit gamma 1 (LAMC1). Overall, circ_0124208 was identified as an oncogene in HCC and could be a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for HCC.

Summary: The study found that circ0093335 is upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and its expression is associated with tumor stage and invasiveness. Mechanistically, circ0093335 promotes HCC progression by downregulating miR-338-5p expression. These findings suggest that circ0093335 may be a potential therapeutic target for HCC.

Summary: CircC16orf62 acts as an oncogene in HCC progression, promoting cancer development through the miR-138-5p/PTK2/Akt pathway. It functions as a molecular sponge for miR-138-5p and a competitive endogenous RNA for PTK2, activating the AKT/mTOR pathway.

Summary: This study investigated the role of circKDM1B in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and found that its overexpression was associated with tumor stage and poor prognosis in HCC patients. Knockdown of circKDM1B suppressed cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and promoted apoptosis in HCC cells. It was discovered that circKDM1B acted as a ceRNA of miR-1322 to upregulate PRC1 expression. Overexpression of miR-1322 inhibited cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and promoted apoptosis, which was partly reversed by PRC1 overexpression. CircKDM1B knockdown inhibited tumor growth in vivo.

Summary: Many studies have shown that circRNAs play a crucial role in the occurrence and development of cancer, and circFAM114A2 is significantly downregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In this study, it was found that circFAM114A2 is associated with microvascular invasion and lymph node metastasis in HCC patients, and its low expression in HCC plasma could potentially serve as a biomarker for diagnosing HCC. Furthermore, circFAM114A2 acts as a tumor suppressor in HCC through the miR-630/HHIP axis.

Summary: Ischemic stroke is a common and serious disease, and neuroinflammation plays a crucial role in its progression. Microglia, astrocytes, and infiltrating immune cells are involved in the complicated neuroinflammation cascade, releasing different molecules that affect inflammation. Flavonoids, plant-specific compounds, have shown protective effects against cerebral ischemia injury by modulating the inflammatory responses.
