Summary: Supramolecular architectures formed by combining inorganic metal cations and organic ligands through self-assembly are a technique in modern chemical science. These multi-nuclear systems have various applications including sensing, storage/cargo, display, and molecular switching. Iron(II) mediated spin-crossover (SCO) supramolecular architectures with Schiff base ligands have gained attention due to their unique structures and potential applications. This review article discusses the various geometrical possibilities and the structural and SCO behavior of these complexes.

Summary: Many Schiff bases derived from 2-hydrazinobenzothiazole and isatin have been used to form [ML2]Cl2 type Co(II) complexes. Nitrogen from azomethine, oxygen from lactonyl, and nitrogen atoms of the thiazole ring contribute to coordinating the metallic ion. The complexes consist entirely of metal and have a geometrical octahedron structure, as confirmed by analytical, magnetic, and spectroscopic investigations.

Summary: Two new azomethine chelates for Fe3+ ions were prepared and their corrosion inhibiting properties were studied. The structures of the compounds were analyzed using various spectroscopic and physicochemical techniques, and their performance as corrosion protective films was investigated using experimental and theoretical methods. The synthesized compounds exhibited high inhibition efficiency and followed the Langmuir model.

Summary: The three Schiff base ligands derived from hesperetin and their copper complexes were studied and characterized by various spectroscopic methods. The genotoxic activity of the compounds was tested on cancer cell lines and normal cell lines. The results showed that the ligands acted as neutral tridentate ligands in the acetate complexes, and the copper complexes displayed lower genotoxicity compared to the ligands in HeLa cells. In Caco-2 cells, HHSB and HTSC induced the most DNA damage, while CuHHSB and CuHTSC induced the highest DNA damage in LLC-PK1 cells.
