Summary: This study revealed that the long noncoding RNA HCP5 is highly expressed in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and plays a role in promoting cancer cell growth, migration, and invasion. HCP5 interacts with miR-216a-5p, and its knockdown inhibits the malignant biological function of LSCC cells. Moreover, miR-216a-5p downregulates the expression of ZEB1, a target gene involved in LSCC progression. These findings suggest that targeting HCP5 may be a potential therapeutic strategy for LSCC.

Summary: This study revealed that miR-509-3-5p regulates the malignancy of colon cancer by suppressing target gene GTSE1. Downregulation of miR-509-3-5p in CC and its overexpression can inhibit the proliferation, migration, and invasion of CC cells. MiR-509-3-5p targets GTSE1, identified as an oncogene in colon cancer.

Summary: LINC00958 expression is increased in TSCC tissues, with high expression associated with shorter overall survival. Knockdown of LINC00958 significantly reduces the growth rate of TSCC cells, acting as a ceRNA by competitively sponging miR-211-5p. CENPK, a direct target gene of miR-211-5p, promotes cell proliferation in TSCC.

Summary: DLX6-AS1 regulates cisplatin sensitivity of lung squamous cell carcinoma cells through the miR-181a-5p/miR-382-5p/CELF1 axis, playing a key role in promoting secondary cisplatin resistance. Targeting DLX6-AS1 may be a novel approach to overcome cisplatin resistance in lung squamous cell carcinoma.

Summary: Resistance to radiotherapy is a major challenge in the treatment of locally advanced rectal cancer. This study investigated the role of a specific microRNA, miR-7-5p, in regulating radioresistance and cancer stem cell (CSC) properties in colorectal cancer (CRC). The findings showed that low miR-7-5p expression was associated with poor prognosis in CRC patients and that overexpression of miR-7-5p could reverse radioresistance and attenuate CSC properties in radioresistant CRC cells. The study also demonstrated that miR-7-5p targeted the stemness-associated transcription factor KLF4 and that delivery of miR-7-5p mimics using magnetic nanoparticles inhibited tumor growth in a mouse model of radioresistant CRC. These findings suggest that miR-7-5p could be a potential target for overcoming resistance to radiotherapy in CRC patients.
