摘要

In recent years, the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines) for Adult Cancer Pain have undergone substantial revisions focusing on the appropriate and safe prescription of opioid analgesics, optimization of nonopioid analgesics and adjuvant medications, and integration of nonpharmacologic methods of cancer pain management. This selection highlights some of these changes, covering topics on management of adult cancer pain including pharmacologic interventions, nonpharmacologic interventions, and treatment of specific cancer pain syndromes. The complete version of the NCCN Guidelines for Adult Cancer Pain addresses additional aspects of this topic, including pathophysiologic classification of cancer pain syndromes, comprehensive pain assessment, management of pain crisis, ongoing care for cancer pain, pain in cancer survivors, and specialty consultations.

Validation and Cross-Cultural Adaptation of the Spanish Version of the Pain Sensitivity Questionnaire (PSQ-S)

Summary: The Pain Sensitivity Questionnaire (PSQ) is a reliable tool for assessing pain sensitivity. The Spanish version of the PSQ (PSQ-S) was validated in this study, demonstrating excellent internal consistency and reliability. The PSQ-S showed strong correlations with experimental pain rating parameters and psychological variables. It also successfully distinguished between healthy adults and adults with chronic pain. Therefore, the PSQ-S is a simple alternative to experimental pain procedures for clinical and experimental pain research.

Psychometric Properties of the Persian Version of Palliative Care Outcome Scale (POS) in Adult Patients With Cancer

Chinese Version of the Psychological Inflexibility in Pain Scale for Cancer Patients Reporting Chronic Pain

The Chinese version of PIPS provides a reliable assessment tool for future studies on pain management in cancer patients.

Psychometric characteristics of the Turkish version of the pain flexibility scale for children with cancer

The results showed a weak correlation between self-reported physical function and walking speed, lower extremity strength, and a moderate correlation with pain interference, pain behavior, and fear-avoidance beliefs. These findings suggest that self-reported limitations in physical function may have an impact on individuals' physical capacity.

Should Buprenorphine Be Considered a First-Line Opioid for the Treatment of Moderate to Severe Cancer Pain

Buprenorphine has emerged as an alternative opioid for chronic pain and substance use disorder, but its role as a first-line opioid for cancer pain remains controversial. In this article, three expert clinicians independently discuss the use of buprenorphine in cancer pain and highlight its potential benefits and unique characteristics. They agree that buprenorphine can be used as a first-line opioid in specific populations and mention the need for further research, particularly randomized clinical trials comparing buprenorphine with other opioids in different pain syndromes.

Characterization and burden of localized back pain versus back pain with chronic overlapping pain conditions

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the impact of preoperative and postoperative risk factors on persistent postoperative pain and opioid use. The results showed a significant association between preoperative opioid use and delayed postoperative opioid cessation, while postoperative increases in depressive symptoms and pain catastrophizing were independently associated with delayed postoperative pain resolution. Therefore, risk stratification of patients before and after surgery can identify those at highest risk for these distinct outcomes, and interventions targeting these perioperative risk factors may prevent prolonged postoperative pain and opioid use.

The system allows patients to specify their caregiver and communication preferences, connects caregivers to a unique portal page, and provides electronic notifications to the care team. The findings highlight the need for further research on caregivers of patients with different illnesses.

Summary: This study describes the infrastructure, tools, and services developed at Stanford Medicine to maintain its data science ecosystem and research patient data repository for clinical and translational research. The Stanford Data Science Resources (SDSR) includes infrastructure and tools to create, search, retrieve, and analyze patient data, as well as services for data deidentification, linkage, and processing. The Stanford Medicine Research Data Repository (STARR) functions as the SDSR data integration point, and includes electronic medical records, clinical images, text, bedside monitoring data and HL7 messages.
