Summary: The study revealed that hemodialysis (HD) patients are less active during dialysis days compared to non-dialysis days, and sedentary behavior increases the risk of death. Additionally, findings showed that body composition, physical fitness, and disease burden in HD patients are related to objectively measured physical activity.

Summary: End-stage renal disease (ESRD) treatment options include kidney transplantation, dialysis, and palliative care. Prior to dialysis, optimal disease management is essential and initiation should be decided through shared decision-making. Vaccination, blood pressure control, salt restriction, and adequate dialysis are recommended for ESRD patients to optimize treatment outcomes.

Summary: This study utilized a mixed methods design to explore factors associated with symptom experiences of patients with end-stage renal disease receiving dialysis. Significant associations were found between patient characteristics and symptom burden, with consistent factors like employment, hyperphosphatemia, and anemia. Participants described both previously reported and new factors influencing their symptom experiences, highlighting the importance of assessing both subjective and objective factors in understanding patients' symptoms.

Summary: The study retrospectively reports on RAI treatment in thyroid cancer patients with ESRD undergoing dialysis, highlighting the challenges posed by delayed biological clearance of RAI. Adjusted dose activity and balancing scheduling between RAI therapy and dialysis are recommended to ensure closer radiation exposure in ESRD patients. Pooling data from multiple centers is suggested to establish consensus and substantiated recommendations for RAI treatment in ESRD patients.

Summary: Patients with ESRD receiving peritoneal dialysis show specific disruptions in functional connectivity, especially in the default-mode network and salience network. They exhibit decreased global efficiency, increased betweenness centrality, and increased characteristic path length. The study confirms significant changes in cerebral connections in cognitively intact patients with PD.

Summary: This study explored myocardial iron content using Cardiac T2* Mapping in dialysis patients undergoing different iron therapies compared to healthy controls, finding that peritoneal dialysis patients have higher cardiac T2* values and may be at a higher risk of myocardial iron deficiency compared to hemodialysis patients. The T2* value was found to be negatively correlated with cardiac function indicators, suggesting it may be an independent predictor of left ventricular function and altered mechanics.

Summary: End stage renal disease (ESRD) has detrimental effects on the immune system, leading to quantitative alterations of lymphocyte subpopulations. Using principal component analysis (PCA) and uniform manifold approximation and projection (UMAP), we found that ESRD patients have a more senescent immune phenotype, and dialysis prescription may play a role in determining the immunological groups within the patient cohort.

Summary: The incidence of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is higher in Israel than the European average. Socio-economic factors and ethnicity, particularly Arab ethnicity, are associated with an increased risk of ESRD, especially due to diabetes. Allocation of health resources and culturally appropriate interventions are necessary to improve control of modifiable risk factors for chronic renal failure.

The results showed that some patients experienced local and systemic AEs, but the clinical significance of these symptoms was minor. Summary: Few experimental studies have tested Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in parents of children with cancer. ACT is feasible considering the high rates of recruitment, adherence and retention. ACT is well accepted with high levels of satisfaction. ACT is effective in improving psychological flexibility and reducing guilt and worry. Future full-scale RCTs are warranted to confirm the results of this work.

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility and acceptability of a linguistically appropriate printed decision aid for cervical cancer screening in South Asian women, as well as its effects on decisional conflicts, clarity of values, risk perception, the screening decision, and uptake. The results showed that the decision aid was useful in aiding decision-making and led to reduced decisional conflicts and increased screening uptake. It is recommended to develop decision aids in various forms, such as printed and mobile applications, to improve convenience.

Summary: This scoping review synthesized the literature on loneliness at end-of-life and identified knowledge gaps. Data on the prevalence of loneliness among adults at end-of-life is lacking. Factors predisposing adults to loneliness at end-of-life include withdrawal from social networks, inability to share emotions, and inadequate spiritual support. Strategies to alleviate loneliness need further substantiation through clinical trials.

Summary: Skill competency assessments induce stress and anxiety, which may affect nursing student performance. In this study, it was found that heart rate variability significantly decreased during the assessment and increased significantly 10 minutes after the assessment. Higher performers showed significantly lower heart rate variability during and after the assessment. The assessment score was negatively correlated with heart rate variability during and after the assessment.
