Summary: In this study, in vitro doubled haploid (DH) plants were established for two tea cultivars (TV21 and TV19). Haploid embryos at the androgenic globular stage were diploidized using colchicine treatment and then multiplied through axillary-bud proliferation. The homozygosity of the diploidized plants was confirmed using SSR markers.

Summary: Agglomerative hierarchical clustering is a common tool for data analysis and visualization, but the nonuniqueness of clustering solutions when distances are tied is a critical problem. This study shows that about 46% of publications in the Scopus database are affected by this issue, with some articles having multiple possible hierarchical clusterings.

Summary: The use of CNCs with AgNPs for various applications is common, and utilizing microwave-assisted generation of AgNPs on the CNC surface has been found to be useful in reducing synthesis cost and environmental pollution. The microwave method offers advantages of simplicity, speed, and high efficiency. This study demonstrates that the use of a green microwave-based method can rapidly synthesize AgNPs, showing good antibacterial properties with trace amounts of AgNO3.

Summary: This study sequenced the transcriptome of common buckwheat and Ukrainian daliqiao using high-throughput sequencing technology, obtaining a large amount of gene information and differentially expressed genes. SSR and EST-SSR loci were also detected. The clustering results verified the genetic relationship between common buckwheat and Ukrainian daliqiao. These findings are important for enriching the genetic information and marker-assisted selection breeding of buckwheat.

Summary: This work describes the synthesis of five three-coordinate silver(I) complexes, which react with I-2 to form a pair of a four-coordinate silver(I) complex and a two-coordinate iodonium complex. Particularly, an I+⋯Ag+ interaction was observed in one of the pairs, representing a nucleophilic behavior of I+.

Summary: The domestic turkey is at risk of extinction due to the introduction of new breeds specializing in meat production. Different from their wild counterparts, domestic turkeys are descended from Mexican turkeys and have been reproduced throughout Latin America. The genetic diversity of domestic turkey populations from 10 different regions worldwide was evaluated, with the most diverse breeds found in Andalusia, Mexico, United States, and wild populations.

Summary: This study identified novel SNPs and InDels in the genes related to gynoecy and found two important functional markers, including a SNP in gene CsaV3_6G037780 encoding ACS1 enzyme and an InDel in gene CsaV3_6G304050 encoding histone lysine N-methyl transferase. These markers have significant implications for the development of gynoecious hybrids in global cucumber breeding programs.

Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated the neural differentiation of the mouse pluripotent P19 cell line and the roles of several genes during the differentiation process, including DNMT3B, ICAM1, IRX3, JAK2, LHX1, SOX9, TBX3, and THY1. Through bioinformatics, microscopic, and transcriptional studies, the researchers identified the involvement of metabolic and developmental super-pathways and pathways in neural cell differentiation. qRT-PCR analyses revealed significant upregulation of JAK2, SOX9, TBX3, LHX1, and IRX3 genes, and downregulation of THY1, DNMT3B, and ICAM1 genes during the experiment. Optical microscopic investigation showed the appearance of specialized extensions of neuron-like cells on day 8 after retinoic acid treatment. Further in vivo studies are needed to validate these results.
