The emerging environmental awareness of the public, as well as the implementation of governmental regulations, force organisations to employ corporate environmental practices such as green supply chain management (GSCM) and green innovation. Accordingly, both practices are crucial to achieve professional improvement in the environmental performance of these organisations. However, research on the relationship of GSCM, green innovation, and environmental performance is relatively rare. Therefore, this study is aimed to provide empirical evidence showing that GSCM and green innovation practices significantly improve environmental performance in order to encourage organisations to implement these practices. In addition, this study investigates the relationship between GSCM and green innovation practices and the influence of these practices on the environmental performance in 123 manufacturing organisations with ISO 14001 certification. The results of PLS-SEM revealed that there is a significant and positive relationship between GSCM and green innovation, and the environmental performance. Moreover, green innovation had a positive effect on the environmental performance. Furthermore, green innovation had a mediating relationship between GSCM and environmental performance. Therefore, the present paper confirmed the significant influence of GSCM on boosting the green innovation of organisations and on the manufacturing establishments, which eventually improve the environment. In brief, the outcomes of this study provide enhanced understanding about the significant role of green innovation in the manufacturers for improving their GSCM and organisational environmental performance. Coordination in a closed-loop sustainable supply chain considering dual-channel and cost-sharing contract: Evidence from an emerging economy

Hannan Amoozad Mahdiraji, Kannan Govindan, Saba Madadi, Jose Arturo Garza-Reyes

Summary: This article applies a game-theoretic approach to find the optimal economic and environmentally sustainable solutions in a two-level closed-loop supply chain with both a traditional retailer channel and an online manufacturer channel. The study finds that the manufacturer-leader Stackelberg strategy leads to the lowest profit for the supply chain, while the Nash strategy where the retailer participates in remanufacturing costs achieves both economic and environmentally sustainable goals.

Understanding the key determinants of IoT adoption for the digital transformation of the food and beverage industry

Imran Ali, Mohamed Aboelmaged, Kannan Govindan, Mohsin Malik

Summary: This study aims to extend the UTAUT model by combining it with perceived collaborative advantage, organizational inertia, and perceived cost. The findings reveal that performance expectancy, perceived collaborative advantage, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions have a strong positive impact on the behavioral intention to adopt IoT for the digital transformation of the F&BI. The study also suggests that age and voluntariness significantly moderate most of the relationships, while gender is an insignificant moderator.

Sustainable hierarchical multi-modal hub network design problem: bi-objective formulations and solution algorithms

Mohammad Mahdi Nasiri, Amir Khaleghi, Kannan Govindan, Ali Bozorgi-Amiri

Summary: This paper proposes a bi-objective model for designing and optimizing a sustainable hierarchical multi-modal hub network, considering economic, environmental, and social aspects. The proposed model is validated using the case of a Turkish freight transportation network. Two multi-objective genetic algorithms (NSGA-II and NRGA) incorporating LP solving and Dijkstra algorithm are introduced, and the superiority of NRGA in terms of solution time is demonstrated. Additionally, alternative formulations and exact methods are utilized to find Pareto-optimal solutions, with the performance of AUGMECON2 shown to be superior based on multi-objective indicators.

Empirical analysis of the influencing factors of knowledge sharing in industrial technology innovation strategic alliances

Meixia Wang, Yunxia Wang, Abbas Mardani

Summary: Knowledge sharing effectively promotes the upgrading of the industrial chain through industrial technology innovation strategic alliances. This study uses structural equation modeling to analyze the influencing factors of knowledge sharing in ITISAs. The results reveal that willingness to share knowledge and tacit knowledge characteristics impact the recognition stage of knowledge sharing, subject heterogeneity has a negative impact on the implementation stage, and knowledge-sharing environment and information technology positively impact the implementation stage. Additionally, knowledge absorptive capacity positively influences the integration stage, and the knowledge-sharing process has a positive effect on the outcome. This study provides valuable information for improving technological innovation capability in ITISAs by considering the factors that influence each stage of knowledge sharing.

Spillover effects of live streaming selling in a dual-channel supply chain

Wenting Yang, Kannan Govindan, Jiantong Zhang

Summary: Live streaming selling is an emerging business mode that utilizes cooperation between e-commerce supply chain members and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to promote sales. This study examines the impact of spillover effects and consumer acceptance on the equilibrium outcomes for two sellers under different scenarios, revealing that manufacturers tend to benefit more from cooperating with KOLs, while e-retailers have more options. Numerical studies also suggest that a win-win situation can be achieved when manufacturers and e-retailers simultaneously collaborate with KOLs.
