Summary: This study investigated the mechanisms of heat transfer and thermal regulation in electrically heated footwear using numerical simulation and experiments. Comparing two temperature control modes, it was found that the mode regulating temperature based on human skin had better performance and lower energy consumption. The properties of the heating pad and inner fabric layer were key factors affecting thermal regulation, while environmental temperature and heating power also played important roles in energy efficiency.

Summary: This study presents a numerical method to analyze the airflow and surrounding rock temperatures in underground roadways. By approximating the ventilation roadway as a one-dimensional line element, the modeling effort and computation time are reduced while maintaining the three-dimensional nature of the surrounding rock. The predicted airflow temperature shows good agreement with field measurements. The study also investigates the impact of ventilation time on the underground thermal environment.

Summary: A pin-fin staggered manifold microchannel heat sink is proposed in this paper to enhance the heat dissipation performance of conventional manifold microchannel heat sink. The heat transfer performance of the proposed heat sink is compared with rectangular manifold microchannel and pin-fin manifold microchannel using single-phase flow numerical simulation. The results show that the proposed heat sink has better heat transfer capability and more uniform heating surface temperature.

Summary: This paper investigates the influence of pressure on convection heat transfer coefficient (CHTC) in the thermal environment of an aircraft cabin. A correction method for CHTC under low pressure conditions is established using experimental and simulation methods. The results show that the corrected CHTC accurately reflects the cabin thermal environment and can be adjusted by modifying the turbulent Prandtl number.

Summary: In tropical conditions, the temperature exceeding the recommended range in greenhouse is a major concern. This study evaluated the thermal performance of an Earth Air Tunnel Heat Exchanger (EATHE) assisted single span saw-tooth greenhouse using both a developed code and a commercial computer program (ANSYS-Fluent). The effectiveness of coupling EATHE to control the greenhouse temperature was assessed under different scenarios of side vent opening. Air movement caused by wind and stack effect was found to be a significant factor affecting the temperature uniformity within the greenhouse. The best thermal performance for optimum plant growth was achieved when both side vents of the greenhouse were connected to EATHE.

Summary: Infrastructure-based heat reduction strategies can help cities adapt to high temperatures, but simulations of their cooling potential yield widely varying predictions. Studies on urban air temperature reduction through green-blue infrastructure and reflective materials show differences in methods and conclusions at different scales, with identified limitations in the research.

Summary: Accurately modeling the temperature distribution of artillery barrels is crucial for evaluating erosion and thermal shock. Previous studies have neglected the effect of frictional heat, particularly for continuous shots. This paper proposes a numerical simulation approach that considers the frictional temperature rise on the inner barrel wall. The frictional temperature between the barrel and the rotating band is derived from the frictional heat theory, and the heat transfer model is computed using the coupling of interior ballistic codes with the finite difference method. The developed solution for continuous shots with an incomplete cooling barrel is validated through finite element numerical simulation.

Summary: This study investigated a refurbished roof structure, finding that the ventilated air layer filled with glass wool insulation performed well, with no condensation observed, and the external concrete skin effectively reduced solar radiation. Under dynamic hygrothermal conditions, the thermal transmittance of the structure was found to be 35% higher than the dry steady-state design value.
